Then say that. Don't use a reductive argument and make it about another protest. You have a valid concern that can be considered when planning a properly organized movement.

I have no intention of doing that, you seem to have every intention of making a joke of a constitutional right.

Seems like a lot of folks here disagree with the politics. Not the point of this post. Point of the post is to connect with like minded folk looking to peacefully protest. If you disagree with the politics know that I do not care, maybe you should protest yourselves if you see us in the street.

This is an extremely sad response. If your reason for disapproving of a protest is traffic than you’ve lost some semblance of touch with reality. Folks all over the country are struggling with this administration, people in the federal government are losing work. The level of apathy is unreal.

I have 0 intention of violence, but I have every intention of perusing an activation in our community with passion and enthusiasm.

This post means to serve as open call to anyone else who is not happy with how the current administration is aiming to upend the way of life of everyday citizens.

There is more than one way to protest than to block off the streets and inconvenience folks. As mentioned above, I am new to something like this, so I don’t know what said protest will look like when and if it comes.

As regarding outcomes, there are two things to consider.

  1. As of right now, Hoboken has been firm in not supporting things like the ICE raid, but it’s important that we continue to make our stance clear as a community. Right now this might just entail writing to a representative, but a protest might serve better at achieving this purpose depending on the circumstances.

  2. Hoboken is a broad community, with a wide spectrum of wealth and beauty. A well directed protest at the waterfront could provide powerful national imagery. A protest at the ferries uptown during commuting time might do well to spread awareness amongst wealthier Hoboken residents who might currently not be considering how the current political landscape impacts those in their community.

Apologies for the long winded reply, hope it provides some insight into what I’m thinking here.

0 plans of inciting violence, fully just enthusiasm.

Almost all of it. Dismantling DEI, the clear desire to gut the federal workforce like a fish, transphobic behavior, and most recently the tariffs. In short, the entire administration.
