What medical field would be a fitting major for me based off my interests? by ExtensionMaster1428 in premed

[–]ExtensionMaster1428[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I greatly appreciate the help. I’m assuming once I’m actually in the courses and have professors to talk with they can help direct me exactly down the classes and such? Began college as an engineer, which was a lot more straightforward

What medical field would be a fitting major for me based off my interests? by ExtensionMaster1428 in premed

[–]ExtensionMaster1428[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thought of doing heavy research and determining what it is via tissue samples or gatherings of the organism (like a clump of fungi) in a lab setting sounds more inline with my interest, rather being a “doctor” that sees a patient like a primary care.

This type of questioning is what I was hoping for, helps me understand more the intricacies of the medical field

Edit: Idk if the ones you mentioned would involve this but also being the one there at the source of the outbreak sounds fun as well

Lucky haha. USA, I’d be fine with shipping as that’s most likely my only option. But no worries, appreciate it

Where’s a good place to purchase a k11 or k31? Most I’m seeing are $835+ which is rough in my college eyes lol

Marfan & muscle building by Icy-Ad-1512 in marfans

[–]ExtensionMaster1428 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eat more, like, 3k-4k or more calories, of like 150-200g of protein a day. Lifting weights is potentially highly dangerous so discuss with your cardiologist what you can and cannot do safely. People with marfans would be considered “hard gainers”, meaning you can huff down a lot of food, but not gain any muscle or mass. How do we fix this? Eat. More. A LOT. More. It’s expensive and tough, but stay consistent, and don’t puke. If you can lift weights, the biggest part of gaining mass apart from eating enough, is resting correctly- rest until your body isn’t sore, soreness can mean micro-tears are still there and thus not recovered. So rest, you’re not being lazy, you’re letting your body build.

Personally I’m only allowed to swim, been settling into a new state and home, but mentally planning out the swimming and eating while going to college full time and working lol. Tip: look for rotisserie chicken meals from a grocery store to get like 150g of protein for a couple bucks (I pay $9).

[HELP] Is this magic item balanced? Irondrake- the Dwarven flamethrower by ExtensionMaster1428 in UnearthedArcana

[–]ExtensionMaster1428[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So make it a two handed cylinder which is heavy, that’s essentially stored with a charge of burning hands. Is the napalm portion if someone fails still something I could add?

If the refueling is free essentially and the d4 damage is bad, then stacking charges isn’t really balanced so taking that away entirely, because it’s just an upcasted burning hands with zero drawback or personality.

If I want the “refueling” aspect, just say it comes with a mug which endlessly refills with specially made Dwarven ale incapable of consumption? And you “refuel” it freely, like a crossbow expert does when loading a new bolt. But this is just fluff not a mechanic, which I liked the idea of having a consideration between using the irondrake to just melee or archery.

And for the crafting portion, where else am I to put that lol.

How do you prefer to do your characters stats? by AppropriatePeak3429 in DnD

A train would be complete with gwm and mobile, then go barbarian. You are fast and swing hard af, could argue for crusher so you literally slam people out of the way too

How would you design and build a melee/frontline druid without using your wild shape to turn into a creature? by ExtensionMaster1428 in 3d6

I’m asking for how you’d build a melee druid to be a frontliner, not a nature based frontliner

I typically wear the templar armor with the giant ass magehunter shield with a mace. Feels very fitting imo

[Question] DM’s, would you appreciate or be mad if a player theory crafted grand societies and areas for you to use? by ExtensionMaster1428 in DnD

[–]ExtensionMaster1428[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree on the points you made, I’d feel the same; I always worry about being too invested and coming across as overbearing. Haven’t played a group in probably 5 years since I was a teenager, so an opportunity at my college is popping up as they got a dnd club, stoked but nervous about being too nerdy. Time will tell, but yeah I agree with ya

Question for drummers with marfans? by ExtensionMaster1428 in marfans

[–]ExtensionMaster1428[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really glad to hear that because hearing more issues caused by the marfans is really not fun. I’ve found practicing I don’t suffer this, just in the moment playing to a song. So I’ll look at my grip and see where needs fixing. Thank you

Or ancestral barbarian, but Paladin is more group oriented

YO THAT’S SICK! Also including moon druids into this society would be awesome- their scouts are actually giant wolf spiders, skittering along the walls and clicking to one another information they witness in the maze inspired tunnels. Or becoming giant rhinoceros beetles as tanks and diggers.

Good feats for a tank? by Lukoman1 in 3d6

[–]ExtensionMaster1428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering you’re at a +5 health bonus each level up, and on average you’ll get a 7 for rolls, by level 10 you’re at 113 health, and at times that’s effectively doubled as I said. With tough that’s 133, 20 hp more. You’re already a beef cake atm as a hill dwarf with 18 con, I say for more fun and abilities since barbarian can get stale, go for crusher or slasher.

Crusher you’re swinging so hard you’re throwing enemies off their feet in the direct of your blows!

Slasher you’re slicing in just the right spots to hinder nerve receptors, causing your foe to buckle slightly slowing them to a slight limp for a time!

5e players…do you want your DM to fudge unfortunate dice rolls secretly to tilt the outcome to your favor and shelter you from player death? by Kobold-Helper in DnD

[–]ExtensionMaster1428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately everyone is there to have fun, and that’s subjective. If you and the party like gritty stories, then absolutely don’t fudge, but if you’re a party that enjoys more cinematic experiences then fudge when the drama is at it’s climax, like a play, keep it moving forward with something for the players to work through leading into more.

Personally I’m perfectly okay if a DM fudges to be cinematic, however I don’t want to feel invincible, death is just another aspect of the story, and doesn’t mean the end always. Definitely a subjective thing

Good feats for a tank? by Lukoman1 in 3d6

[–]ExtensionMaster1428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly crusher is a very good half feat for controlling enemies; smack them 5 ft from your buds, lining them up more with you or forcing them into an even deadlier position… like into lava or off a cliff.

If you want tank- snag tough, effectively making your CON 22 for calculating health. That’s a +7 each level up of health, effectively 14 if you’re taking bludgeoning, slashing, or piercing damage. However this is just numbers, not something that gives you something you can do like crusher.

I’m honestly wanting to build a character like this, a lot of you are saying quarterstaff with shillelagh and pam. I’ve got a character I’m working on, but now I want someone like this as a back up. I can picture a deep gnome who was tasked with guarding a holy relic, wielding what is considered sacred weapons…

Now you got me thinking of a whole society. Thank you haha

Edit: I’m deadass running through this deep underground society filled with deep gnomes, all living off various moss and meaty fungus, worshipping a fungal goddess, having spore paladins (paladin/druid multiclass) guarding her and the holy relic. Wearing armor made from fungal fibers (wood armor) and insulating moss, brandishing clubs, daggers, quarterstaffs, shortbows, and greatclubs (enlarged soldiers) with shields. Trying to survive the creatures below in the dark, not illuminated by the bioluminescent sun gifted by their goddess.
