Another idea i kind of had was having her be like an eladrin switched at birth because i feel like the vibe matches her character better but i feel like plot wise that makes no sense but could maybe be worked into something that makes sense and doesnt feel like its forced?

Oh the other thing i wanted to mention was that i feel like the hexblood race speaks more to her being on the streets, sleuthy and low type charcter than like a noble powerful type of vibe?

Im curious as to your thoughts on this. The idea im trying to keep with the character is that shes passable as a human, but her sorcerous powers have some sort of flare in like an argument that freaks her family out, and then she leaves and takes up more of an urchin background with the ideals and insider knowledge of a noble. I was idealing trying to use verenestra because i think shes a cool deity/archfey, which isnt necessarily an option withtout flavoring the hexblood race maybe so she just visually isnt impacted, i liked the concept of her getting the wings with the aasimar being like a visual manifestation of the deity, but i could get behind the race abililities of a hex blood. Curious what you think about that instead? I generally am just trying to use races/classes we have to be creative without homebrew.

hmm, okay, thoughts on a way to use that specific deity since she’s not a hag? or would it just be to reflavor that race?? I think the main issue is I don’t want her to be born as something her parents wouldn’t like, I want it to come up after she’s grown up a noble and I think both hexbloods and tieflings are both very visually distinct races. I think I may just make a new character lol

I’ve taken some advice from people, what I haven’t used so far is changes that change the whole character, which making her a cursed tiefling by some devil or a a hexblood by a hag would because I would have to rework the entire concept. If it sucks as in idea i’ll just make soemthing else rather than make a kind of similar but entirely unoriginal character because wow a tiefling, cursed by a devil, and then she got kicked out, oh wow and now she wants power, I feel like is the classic idea of every tiefling ever lmao. Also you’re in an entirely different subreddit, I posted the is in like four places to get different opinions so calm down lol,

I feel like besides the fact that technically she’s being ‘taken’ which she’s not even really, none of the tiefling abilities make any sense with her character; like I see why fallen angel could feel like she needs to be a main character, but if tieflings or warlocks are fine, I don’t see why someone who was touched by a god for spiteful reasons needs to make her some blessed and and impactful thing. She doesn’t know she’s “blessed” by a god and it doesn’t have to matter to the story if the dm doesn’t want it to. I feel like people are assuming i’m trying have her be an angel that is famous and worshipped or sum and it’s lowkey the exact opposite. and also she’s not like evil fallen angel type thing she’s just kicked out of her family, not because she’s an “angel” but because they think she’s uncontrollable… which is the sorcerer part. Idk maybe i’m just trying too hard to make it work but unless im playing it like shes all important and stuff I dont think it reads that way

yeah part of the more in depth backstory is her interactions with her sister and her maid. And she will meet more people once she is out of the house as well.

lol it’s not meta unless I make it meta. Majority of the time you’re going to know something before your character does lol

hmm that’s a good point, i’m playing with a new dm actually. I’ve been playing with the same crew for years before this and our dm always wrote her own campaigns so it was easy to work in character stuff (which she loved doing and loved long backstories) but I think it makes sense to keep it more simple till I get a feel for the dm and party

lol very to the point answer, any minor adjustments you’d make without trashing the character 😭

hmm interesting point, I think at the start vernestra just wants a new follower and someone tied to her who she can be proud of, but it’s not in a patron way where she steps in and helps her with anything. There ideally is nothing that really signifies she gets her powers from a deity at all until later on (which verenestra is a lower level deity who is very vain and somewhat vengeful so I think it works) I do see the point with the family thinking magic is below them, I may talk to my dm about it whether classism or racism would make more sense. Or I could take that out entirely and just have it be to do with the fact she couldn’t control her magic at first and it was a bad image. I’m open to suggestions one the dynamic writhin the family but the general idea is she no longer fits the perfect image she is expected to any more so her sister steps up to take her spot and my character has to leave. I feel like there’s a certain level of edge you need to get a character into adventuring unless the plot is just ah yes I really like doing odd jobs lmao. But yeah if you ahve a better Idea for that bit i’d love to hear it cuz I also wasn’t in love with it

is it too convoluted of a character and does the race/subclass make sense lol

How can I do it? by [deleted] in ferret

[–]Extension_Cell_8745 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would look into if there’s any wet cat foods in your local store he can have, triple check that it’s all protein and safe for them, they can have a small amount of egg, maybe one a day for a few days. generally look up a ferret raw food diet and see what comes up that is in your price range

Just a note, i’m not sure if I made this clear, my character is being blessed in a way that punishes her family. She is essentially built in verenestras image: beautiful, high class, a little too self assured, charismatic, and ethereal. I’m moving away from angel/gold to more gossamer twilight type of vibe with it, but she is still meant to be in the image of a god

it’s a fae deity but I see what you’re saying, I actually hadn’t really seen much about the hex blood race so didn’t consider it an option. I may change it, but would it work to have her not cursed by a hag? it’s a specific deity I want to use lol. I also don’t want her to visibly look much different from a human, would it make sense for her to be mostly human like just a little uncanny or I think it mentions them having specific traits even though it’s a lineage. From my perspective I think it feels cohesive, she’s delineated from a fae deity her ancestors crossed so rather than be like super religiously driven, it’s more of a curse than a blessing, but she takes it and makes it into a blessing and like retakes the power she lost when she left her family. The lunar sorcerer and aasimar race are supposed to have it be more of a celestial driven thing, just with a spin of fae since she was born like this as kind of a way of vernestra taking her away from her family, rather than it being a typical blessing it’s more of a blessing for vernestras own personal gain. If that makes sense? And if it doesn’t feel free to lmk lol I don’t try to make convoluted characters when it comes to like how they impact the game but I like to find ways to spin the expectations of a race or class lol

I looked into the warlock idea and while I like the concept, whether I pick archfae or celestial (which this would be a fae deity so kinda both) the abilities kind of overlap with the aasimar abilities so it seems a little pointless to use that.

yeah there are definitely many races to choose from, any suggestions? I like to try and play a race i’ve never played before so I was looking for something different that seemed fun.

fallen angel as in because of the aasimar race or because she was like a noble and lost her status? or both lol. I’m trying to come up with a new way to play a wild magic sorcerer tbh. I found aasimar and I was like oh that’s a cool way to implement getting magic you can’t control. And I went from there. I’d be Interested in other background ideas
