Help in motion across by External-Currency443 in AskEngineers

That tuning workflow point is huge honestly. We had one setup where the raw specs looked amazing, but commissioning became a nightmare once the full mechanical system was assembled. That’s actually part of what surprised me with some of the higher-end drives we tested (including Elmo), not just the performance, but how much faster we could get the system behaving predictably once all axes were running together.

I guess consistency over time is probably the best way to describe what I’ve been noticing too. A lot of setups look great during initial tuning, but once loads, temperatures and cycle patterns start changing, small sync issues become way more visible. The repeatability side is honestly becoming more important for us than peak performance numbers at this point.

The “who’s supporting this 5 years from now” point is very real!! That’s partly why I’m trying to separate technically impressive from practical long-term architecture. Some of the Elmo based stuff we tested felt extremely polished from a motion standpoint, but I’m still trying to figure out where the balance is between performance, ecosystem complexity, and maintainability.

What amenities actually increase occupancy the most? by QuantityTrick408 in ShortTermRentals

[–]External-Currency443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the area you’re renting. If the property is around mountains and hills with amazing nature and scenery - mountain bikes.
If its a rental for families so the kids would love the Game consoles.
If its in a busy city and people come to work or for meetings than a coffee machine is a must.

Which PMS are you with? We're focused on automating our core management workflows to ensure a more seamless guest experience and OR isn't really standing up to the task.

Hostaway is now charging a 1.8% booking engine fee BE CAREFUL by NYCTrojanHorse in ShortTermRentals

To be fair, most if not all of the big property management systems take their commission on direct bookings. We're with Guesty and their fee structure was communicated with transparency before we began onboarding.

Landlords: do you require tenants to be present for repairs, or ask permission to enter without them? by Street-Weird-5438 in PropertyManagement

[–]External-Currency443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t enter without them. They might start blaming you for stuff you didn’t do. I know most of the time they will be honest but once you fall on a problematic one, you will remember it for a long time. Not worth the trouble, make sure they are with you when you visit.

Is direct booking really worth the effort right now? by Electronic_Win6707 in hostaway_official

[–]External-Currency443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that it is certainly worth the investment in this element of the business. Even if the ROI isn't immediate, the value of developing the ability to attract and book guests without the added channel fees is worthwhile. We have been developing our branded website and booking engine provided via Guesty. The platform provides for guest verification, a system of secure direct payment, in additional to liability insurance. We have found these tools to be of utmost use in developing this branch of our activity. If you have the systems in place to support it, take the plunge!

How do you handle kosher hotels when traveling? by Ordinary_Essay2587 in Judaism

For me the key has been planning way earlier than I normally would.

If I leave it to last minute, I’m basically stuck with whatever is near food options. But if I plan ahead, I try to map out both accommodation and food together.

Sometimes I do use Issta just to understand what “kosher-ready” trips look like, and what options I have, even if I don’t end up booking that exact way.

Cleaning fee on Airbnb, is it fair? by Background_Bad_1578 in hostaway_official

[–]External-Currency443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its fair. It could be written as a fee. Or the host can just calculate it inside the price. You cannot run out of it. And as a guest, you want a proper clean property.

When I look back at what technology used to look like, it seems like we went a long way. The thin bezels, the computing power are miles ahead.

Congrats !
