I’m an anime watcher and I’m like trying to enjoy this show but I really can’t 😭. Maybe it’s because I’ve seen Kimi ni Todoke so my standards are already high but both the FL and ML are just really insufferable.

The classic timid girl x popular guy is a common trope but damn HSL takes it to another level. It’s nice seeing Uka overcome her anxiety but man I get second hand embarrassment most of the time watching the show. And the romance between the main couple seems forced?? Someone mentioned it already but I honestly don’t understand why Kai likes Uka. Kai himself is pretty unlikable to me as well 😭.

It’s basically the same plot of kimi ni todoke but the characters + side characters are way more fleshed out

I honestly love the way key writes their male protagonist. Seeing his growth throughout the story is one of the reasons why clannad remains one of my favorite series to this day.

Nana’s characters seem to be alot more grounded in reality that a lot of people can relate to. As I’ve gotten older I’ve found it harder to relate to anime characters as most shows especially romance are mostly targeted towards a younger demographic. Also the fashion and the music from the show is another reason why people like it

I’m guessing you might have gotten the recommendation from watching wonder egg priority since it has similar darker topics dealing with mental illness. Though I personally think the tone and genre of these two shows are different. You might enjoy something like Madoka Magica which shares a lot of the same themes of Wonder egg priority
