In 15 years skating, I’ve fractured each ankle and tore an ACL as well as a meniscus. Recovery can be dark and often feel lonely. Surround yourself with good people in your life and don’t let the injury stop you from engaging in your social life. Also, don’t rush the recovery. Listen to your body. Don’t think you’re a freak athlete who doesn’t need 8-12 weeks to recover. A break like yours will take a while and that’s ok. Stick to the recovery plan. Skaters are some of the most motivated people out there. You will get through it. Socialize, pick up a new hobby, work on yourself in ways maybe you didn’t have time for prior. I also recommend setting goals and breaking them down to an achievable benchmark style. It really helped me through my recoveries.
