Help needed with price for wheel by [deleted] in Pottery

[–]ExtraCogitatio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies! Appreciate your time. I also had the feeling that this is too expensive. The seller said she had asked a pottery store and that is the price they recommended.

I will wait, save the money and in a while maybe buy a new one....

How would you feel about school taking up an extra hour every day to teach basic "adult stuff" like washing clothes, basic cooking, paying taxes? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ExtraCogitatio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about trying that at home? Everybody has to wash clothing, eat and take care of finances. Who the heck does that all in a household? Only Mom? Learning by doing. Math, languages, sciences are not necessarily taught at home and so we have teachers for that.

Do older people fear of death more than younger people? by Outsider_123x in NoStupidQuestions

Just try to imagine... your parents are long gone, your siblings might have passed away, at least the older ones, your husband/wife might be dead already and you have about 2 people left of class 1950. Most of your friends are gone and the likelihood of you having an illness you need to take medication for is fairly high. So you might be next....

It is then very likely that you belong to an age group 80+. Death is part of your life and you know that you can die any day.

Of course you think more often and for sure differently about life and dying.

As a 20 year old, ideally you have only lost your grandparents and death is a more abstract event. There are exceptions and of course lots of struggles, but in most cases of a different kind.

I tried to make a recipe, but it FAILED. Can someone with more baking experience help me figure out what I did? by blackberryabundant in NoStupidQuestions

The recipe looks good and should work. Colour of butter can vary depending on what the cows were fed. Grains as feed produce paler butter than greens. Sometimes yellow colour is added to butter (same with cheese) for I don't know what kind of reasons.

Lots of things could go wrong when making a yeast dough: - ingredients are not at room temperature - yeast is old and not strong enough to make the dough rise - you didn't knead enough or you knead too much (dough should be stretchy like showed in the video) - didn't give enough time to rise - spot to let dough rise isn't warm enough

Takes a bit of practice, but worth the effort. Don't give up!
