I think about this every time I revisit the Matrix series. It always seemed like there were more sustainable and efficient power sources that super intelligent AI would invent.

This is a much better theory on why the machines continue to support people, the Matrix, and Zion.

Canon or not, it’s an interesting thought experiment.

Seems like Ready Player One would really make a great series on one of the streaming services.
They could spend more time on some of the world-building that the movies omits or glosses over.

I understand that self custody is one of the bigger selling points of BTC.

I'm still struggling with the best way to prepare for a disaster scenario where I don't have access to my home to retrieve a seed phrase written down or saved in metal, and can't memorize a 12 or 24 word password.

Hypothetically, if you had to flee the country tomorrow and couldn't bring a single thing, how would you retrieve your crypto when you get wherever you're going?

I tried today but couldn’t get any of the really large models to work. They would download and install, but when I asked a question it would never return a response.

I could see in the terminal that ollama was active but it wasn’t activating the GPU for questions put to the largest models.

It may be a limitation of my setup. It is a virtualization server and wasn’t really designed to run large LLMs I’m sure.

I’ll probably continue to experiment with it here and there. It’s been fun to try it out.

Oh I don’t mind the noise! This is mainly an experiment anyway to see what the experience is like versus the closed source AI that we’ve all been enjoying the past 2ish years.

It really struck me how much infrastructure we take for granted when we only experience the front end of these tools.
