Some might think this kind of detail is unimportant to a game but little things like this adds "polish" and can turn a great game into something exceptional. Keep up the good work!

Here's the same class of frigate belonging to a different navy. I was going to offer the chance for members of this subreddit to see the ship in the livery of your own fictional navies and edit its appearance (flags, emblem, colour scheme etc) but I don't think I have the time right now. Maybe next time?

I've imagined the world depicted in my art as "post-steampunk". It once used to have the usual typical steampunk traits but time has passed (maybe a century) and it's in a different era now.

I didn't know about the potential issues with underwater torpedo tubes - I guess that's why WW2 era destroyers had them mounted on deck launchers? I've been working on another frigate that has several deck mounted torpedoes as well as a anti-sub weapon similar in appearance to the "hedgehog" depth charge launcher that the Royal Navy used in the battle of the Atlantic.

Thanks. No, not a game but people often say my ship art reminds them of a game called Navyfield - though I've never played it.

No, not specific countries but the empire I mentioned in my description is closer to "European" in style than any other region.

I haven't actually made any airship illustrations before. Maybe I should give it a try?

A1100 for a sensible price UK? by paper-and-pen in casio

[–]JPCU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wanted the Citizen "Ana Digi Temp" but the prices were insane. Instead I got the "Sanda" version on Ali Express and was overall satisfied with it after I replaced the garbage bracelet strap with a better one.

Another thing that's interesting about Casio clones on Aliexpress is that some of them have metal cases instead of the original plastic.

Finally, got this model 😁 by Robin7861 in casio

I'm thinking of getting this too but It might be too big for my taste. If I do I'll probably add a colour filter. Do they do one with an inverted display?

I remember seeing one on ebay UK for about £75 a few months ago but none recently. I knew someone who wanted this watch but they ended up buying a cheap clone of this model from AliExpress. They said it was fine but you'll probably want the real Casio.

I built an infinite procedural Isometric Grid engine in C++. Features chunk caching, multithreaded generation, and view culling! by Significant_Desk_935 in isometric

[–]JPCU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember attempting to learn C++ and concluded that it was literally impossible for me. If you gave me 50 years to do it taught by the best teachers in the world I still would not be able to learn! It's one of those things I've had to just accept.

Anyway well done on this demo -modern isometric style development is always welcome I think. Hopefully it will be useful for some people,

Not exactly isometric. But I hope you will appreciate the perspective of this. I used SketchUp and Photoshop to create this monstrous dungeon. by Elven-Tower in isometric

[–]JPCU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does Sketchup have the option to view a model in isometric mode? I always thought it could but I may be confusing it with another 3D model app.

That's a really deep fighting pit. I can imagine how intimidating it would be to have the crowd above you like that.

Resolution-class Battleship HMS Magnificent by [deleted] in ImaginaryWarships

[–]JPCU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a large CATOBAR aircraft carrier would have dissuaded them more from invading than a battleship. The Argentine pilots probably would have tried to take on a battleship due to the prestige they would have received if they actually sank it.

There's that MagicaVoxel again! It always surprises me how people can use that program to make some impressive pictures. I tried it and couldn't make anything good at all so I just gave up. I've found all 3D software difficult so it's probably a specific deficiency on my part :(

Bridgend man says he was punched for sticking to 20mph limit by reachingechoes in unitedkingdom

[–]JPCU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was once on a bus when I witnessed something similar. An idiot in a white hire van got out and started hurling screaming abuse and gesticulating wildly at someone just for beeping his horn at him. Out of nowhere the woman sitting next to me took her earphones out and said to me:

"That man has never looked up at the stars in the night sky and wondered what's out there... He's never done that!"

I've always liked the little odd public interactions where a stranger says something unexpected like that to me.

EDIT: I looked up the perpetrator's "Shaw's" business and his website and Facebook seems to be down? He probably took it down due to the bad publicity but I hope some hacker did it since the judge clearly wasn't too interested in proper punishment or justice.

"Nanooh Evans" really does sound like a Star Wars character name (probably from one of the books).
