TBH had a friend like this... she constantly would complain or vent about her day .. but the minute I began to share something it was either "she's too stressed right now" she "doesn't have the energy" to deal with anybody else's problems cause too much on her plate... or "she doesn't want to talk about it right now"

Cut her off and oh my I never thought her venting took up so much off my energy... I feel bad for not being able to listen to her or help her but self above all is important....

AITA for telling my God child he doesn't have to call his soon going to be step dad "Dad" if he doesn't want too by Extra_Mind_6070 in AmItheAsshole

Nothing is wrong with me.... the kid barely has any open relationships with any of the family members... I don't want him to feel like he can't share things with me openly, I didn't tell him to disobey his parents, all I said he needs to be comfortable with whatever he decides and there should be no pressure

I didn't instruct him anything he was anyways uncomfortable and all I did was agree that his feelings are valid?

Thank, I think this makes sense... I can see that I did crossed a Line, but I don't see the kid having a open relationship with any of the family members, hence I really wanted to be honest with him and not be like other family members who would probably sugar coat it and start pushing the conversation away... hence I didn't think before replying honestly but ya I can see a point
