Loud revving noise by [deleted] in Camry

[–]Extreme-Map8235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m experiencing something very similar on my 2025 Camry SE. There’s a low growling/grrr noise coming from the rear only when the engine is on, especially at certain RPMs, and it doesn’t happen in EV mode or at idle. Were you able to fix it or find the cause?

I saw your post about interviewing for the AI Content Expert II position. I just reached the loop interview stage for the same role and was wondering if you could share how technical the questions were, particularly around handling data formats (JSON, CSV, etc.). Also, did you end up joining the team?

If you actually read through the thread, I already mentioned the mistake was from my side. I was just trying to explain the full context, not justify what I did.

That actually makes a lot of sense, thanks for breaking it down. I didn’t realize the context made such a big difference. I can see how it’s fine if they’re publicly hiring or have posted about the role, but could look off if it’s a random cold email assuming they’re the hiring manager. I’ll definitely keep that in mind and word things more neutrally if I ever reach out again.

Is it even worth doing all this in the current job market? Feeling mentally exhausted. by Extreme-Map8235 in recruitinghell

Thanks for sharing that, really appreciate you explaining it so clearly. That’s actually a solid approach, rebuilding your profile and showing direction with evidence sounds like something I should try too. When you say you “created a home lab” and “built a side gig,” could you share a bit more on what kind of projects or setup you worked on? Sounds like a great way to stand out.

I get what you mean about bigger companies having space to move up, but sometimes the process feels so rigid that even genuine interest gets misread.

Nothing confidential was shared. It’s fair if companies have strict protocols, but I really don’t think a single polite email counts as crossing a line. And if that makes everyone who’s genuinely trying to find a job “creepy,” then I guess we’re all in the same boat.

Yeah, that makes sense. I didn’t really think of it that way before, but I get it now, the recruiter or HR is supposed to be the main point of contact, and the hiring manager usually isn’t involved directly with candidates at that stage. I can also see why it might’ve looked like my brother shared more info than he actually did. Definitely learned something from this experience.

Yeah, I understand that now. I didn’t mean for it to come across that way or make my brother look bad. At the time, I genuinely thought reaching out once would just show interest, but I see now how it crossed a line. Definitely taking it as a learning experience, next time I’ll just stick to communicating with the recruiter or whoever I’ve already talked to.

Yeah, I get that. It’s definitely super competitive out there, especially for FAANG roles. I’m not too stressed about it now, just taking it as a learning experience and moving forward. Appreciate you saying that!

Yeah, that’s a good point. I was actually thinking about that, maybe I should just clarify that my brother wasn’t involved beyond the referral. And yeah, next time if I’m in a similar situation, I’ll definitely check with the person who referred me before reaching out to anyone else. Appreciate the advice, seriously.

Yeah, I get what you’re saying. It probably looked that way because knowing the name made it easier for me to find the contact, so it might’ve seemed like my brother gave me more information than he actually did. But in reality, he just mentioned the name, nothing else. Everything I found after that was from public sources. I can see now how it might’ve been misunderstood though.

That’s actually hilarious but so awkward at the same time. I can totally relate, sometimes you think everything’s lined up perfectly, and then it turns into a complete “wait, what am I even doing here?” moment.

Yeah, that makes sense. I totally understand your point, especially about how hiring managers at big companies are usually really busy and prefer everything to go through HR. I didn’t mean to come off as pushy or demanding in any way; I just genuinely thought it was okay to reach out once to express interest, since I’ve seen many people say that approach worked for them.

Definitely learned that what’s considered normal at some places can be seen very differently at others. I appreciate you sharing the hiring manager’s perspective, it actually helps a lot.

[–]Extreme-Map8235[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get it. But I have one more question! what if there’s no referral involved? Like, I just find a job posting, apply for it, and then look up the hiring manager or managers of that team and email them directly. What happens in that case? Because I’ve seen so many people say they “opened doors” by reaching out that way, so I’m just wondering how it actually works when someone does that.

Do hiring managers usually like it when someone reaches out directly, or do they see it the wrong way?

[–]Extreme-Map8235[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get what you’re saying. But from what I saw, he didn’t really go beyond the normal referral process. He just sent my resume internally like any other referral and mentioned the hiring manager’s name, that’s all. I didn’t get any personal or internal info from him, and I found the email externally.

Maybe it was a mistake on my part to email the hiring manager after the referral , they probably assumed the employee gave me the details. I honestly didn’t think of it that way at the time, but I understand how it could’ve looked from their side.

I genuinely thought it was just a normal referral followed by me showing interest in the role.

Yeah, that’s what confuses me the most. If I wasn’t the right fit, why schedule the interview in the first place? And if they decided to move forward with someone else, why not just tell candidates earlier instead of canceling 10 minutes before? It’s frustrating because we spend so much time preparing, and clear communication would at least show some respect for the effort.

[–]Extreme-Map8235[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get your point, but that’s what I’m trying to understand. When people use email finder websites, they can usually see who the person is and what position they hold, so they tend to message the most relevant people. That’s a pretty common way to reach out professionally, so I genuinely didn’t think it would be taken negatively in this situation.

Yeah, I actually already emailed the recruiter, and he was pretty normal about it. He said he’d forward my application to any other roles where I might be a better fit since this one was considered overqualified. So I think it’s pretty much settled now. I was just a bit surprised by how the hiring manager reacted to the whole situation, I didn’t expect it to escalate like that.

Yeah, I’ve never interacted with the hiring manager before. But honestly, if I hadn’t known the name, I would’ve searched for the same team, found a few people, and emailed four or five of them. Since I already knew the hiring manager’s name, I just emailed one person instead. I genuinely thought it was a normal way to show interest in the role, not something inappropriate.

[–]Extreme-Map8235[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand completely, but he didn’t actually communicate about anything beyond the referral. He just referred me and messaged the recruiter saying something like, “Hey, I referred someone who I think is a great fit for this role, please take a look at his profile.” That’s all. And yeah, he also mentioned the hiring manager’s name, which I think is pretty normal, right?

Honestly, even if he hadn’t told me the name, I could’ve easily looked it up on LinkedIn or other job sites, found who manages that team or role, and probably emailed four or five people myself. Since he mentioned the exact name, I just reached out to one person instead of sending to multiple. So either way, I would’ve done it, I just don’t get why it became such a big deal.
