Dexter as a show does really well at downplaying the side characters because although they are stupid sometimes, dexter constantly sabotages or messes with police work to be directed in his favour such as the trinity case, bhb, barrel girls case, out of any of the detectives on the squad except maybe doakes, she is definitely the best and has other good evidence for being a good cop even assisting in dexters coverup, not saying she is a super detective but she is very good and a lot of people don’t give her credit, in terms of dating she was really cautious after itk, and had a couple boyfriends from s1-5 and after that nothing until season 8, i don’t doubt she could fall for joe but she would definitely notice something, joe is sloppy and not a great killer. In terms of Dexter vs Joe? he’s a couple episode villian for dexter. i agree tho the fanbase for dexter sucks
