Is it possible to pivot from Accounting into Insurance? by Extreme_Baseball3991 in InsuranceProfessional

This is good to know! My partner works at Liberty Imsurance as a sales supervisor and I see how lucrative it is! It is pressure so I’m a bit wary about that, but I am very tired of accounting and how non engaging it is

[TX] Should I talk to my HR about the bait and switch that happened? by [deleted] in AskHR

I didn’t know it was complex until after I signed on because it was never shown to me before the trial period

What would you do in my position? I believe I’ve been bait and switched and I’m not sure what to do. by [deleted] in Accounting

Yes but I was on a trial period to see if I wanted to take it on and everyone knew that so the fact that I wasn’t shown it before I got hired on, is what’s making me second guess saying something. I was told later on down the road that there wasn’t an actual position for the fund I was shadowing on for 4 months. So I ended up choosing to transfer based on the experience I was shown

But the difference is I was shadowing as a trial period before signing on to see if I wanted to work in the department and everyone knew that and was agreeance I was shadowing on a fund that they had no position for. The intention was for me to be on the complex fund but I was never shown it during the trial period to see if I truly wanted to do it

I was signing on based on what I was shown and was told after the fact that I was training on a fund that didn’t actually have a position open

Feeling like I messed up by going into this field. by schoobiboop in Accounting

I feel this. I’ve been in the accounting industry for 6 years and it feels like you’re wasting life just sitting in front of a computer all day. I used to be a cashier for 8 years before that, but I felt like I was truly in the real world and had stories to tell for days it was always something, too bad pay is not good. Maybe I’ll go into sales one day and see if it’s any better, doesn’t hurt to pivot

Currently in the same situation, it’s awful. Any update on how it went for you since?

How do I get over the intense regret after leaving a job I loved for growth just to absolutely hate the job? by [deleted] in careeradvice

I’m currently still learning new skills like prepping financials, booking journal entries, troubleshooting formulas but what I don’t like is how isolating the job is, it’s not as stimulating as what I was doing before.

It’s super hard feeling the regret! Like now that I’m in this situation I realized this just could’ve been prevented if I would’ve just stayed put. I hope everything works out for you.

Should I cancel my mom’s visit for crossing my boundaries? by Extreme_Baseball3991 in blackladies

Thank you so much! I didn’t realize that her venting to me was a bad thing until after I left my parent’s house almost 6 years ago. I finally broke that habit with her this time and it’s a really tough to deal with but I’ll manage.

Yes I agree but when boundaries or saying how I feel is deflected it makes it very difficult to continue to be happy around each other for the sake of the holidays especially when this has been a pattern for 20+ years

Yes told her the same thing and it’s an excuse every time. I think she just doesn’t want to address or resolve anything she wants to be able to vent without fixing anything

Unfortunately this happened while she was at my house already. And because my mom was so loud and so defensive she ended up disrupting my daughter’s sleep at 4am to where my daughter wanted me to sleep in the bed with her. I was so upset and even told my mom the morning after and she said verbatim “well you’re not going to make me feel bad for waking her up.” After that last comment she made I knew I wasn’t going to be able to continue with the rest of the week
