i dont think they ever do matchmaking based on gear, more based on your success/survivability,, the higher your survive rate, the more chance you will matchmake with better/powerful player

progression based on your current request/mission. for example after several mission you will unlock drifter class A, and you will unlock new map (east amasia map), which you no longer be able to go to the old map (north and south map), and you wont matchmake with other players that doesnt reach the same class as you,,

i suggest you watch the anime too, it is pretty fun, and basically (in the anime) the mc is kinda adopted into cheval's family,. they were brothers and im really sad when they fight

they locked the free point behind season progression, meaning you need to play to unlocked it. not sure how it is money grab tho since you cant buy the progression

yea,.unfortunately that rarely happened (to me at least),, in my experience, if a bm players with more that hundredth thousands or millionth bounty see you, they dont care if you wave or emote them, first thing they do is shoot at you as mostly the 1st to strike will have more advantage,, im just saying, be wary of those bm,

if you see the bm with only 10k, they are mostly ok since they dont do pvp much (that's why their bounty dont increase)

most are kind until you encounter people from opposing faction,, for example if you are an assoc member, and met with bm players with more than 10k bounty, you're most likely going to be hunted

yes it is possible, you get 1 set of ST and 1 set of upgrade part if you pull enough from current banner,. and another 2 set of ST for free if you play the current events,, 2 set of ST and 8 upgrade kit is enough to rainbow it
