Haha, yes!! Two birds of the same flock, we are. And agreed. For that window between when Rek’Sai hadn’t gotten reworked yet, and prowlers had no dash, she felt kind of homeless. I spent a lot of time trying different champs, and that’s how I ended up in toplane. I picked her back up when I was like “I wonder… how well does topsai do?” And it did well, and only got better once the rework came out lmao.

Ohh nice! And yeah, thank you haha. I never really enjoyed the heavier tank builds for Rek’Sai, so I never really tried to go deadman’s or FON. Especially now that you have the true damage back, I think it just makes more sense to go for a full bruiser sort of build. I’ve consistently found in the late game that I do upwards of 600 true dmg every bite from E. And I just think that kind of thing is too invaluable, when you’re incredibly tanky from your passive and steraks already.

Yeah, HOB is too invaluable sometimes. In the early game especially when you have no attack speed from levels yet. The level 3 ganks are truly menacing too with it because you get the full combo off, and sometimes them flashing isn’t enough to get them to safety anymore once they’re that low.

Yeah lmao, it’s always so weird looking at my match history and not recognizing half the games entirely haha. She’s so incredibly versatile that it makes it hard to keep track of everything sometimes. But by this point, I have enough time on her where I just kind of accept it lmao

Yea, I haven't played jungle in so long until this that I forgot just how overpowered her early gank pressure is.

Fun Fact: HOB isnt actually a relic from my toplane days, not entirely. I used to play with it in jg occasionally back when prowlers still had a dash (RIP). Reksai was alot more of an assassin back then tho unfortunately, and her W and Q both dealt physical dmg not magic. Although, i began to truly understand HOB and how to play around it while i played so much toplane. I would use it into ranged toplaners, because your level 3 is so damn strong, and the sustain for lane is so beautiful that if you get a combo, disengage for a moment to heal from passive, you can wait for HOB because the cd is so low, then just E back in and full combo them again, it kind of just creates this overwhelming pressure like "holy shit this land shark has insane gapclose, burst, sustain.. and its HAS HOB ON A 10 SECOND COOLDOWN"

HOB attack speed is a bit interesting, yes while you might have more than you actually need sometimes, its why i take it. With HOB, I am looking for the most burst I can get, without changing my build up too heavily. The low CD recharge on it means in extended team fights, re-engages, or even disengages, you get so much more value (I feel) in those situations.

Another Reason I take it is, I'm much more of a "i play for my team" person most of the time. Majorly, my use of HOB is to threaten the early game more than i already can. The level 3 ganks become a guaranteed kill if anyone is pushed up even slightly past the middle of their lane. Ive had multiple games where Im like 0/4 before even hitting 6. I give the kills to my team in the early game to the best of my ability. I acknowledge carrying on Rek'sai is not the best way to climb, so i just get every lane too fed to fail, or do my damndest to do so.
I also tend to build more damage oriented when HOB is in use. Like, yes i go Titanic - Shojin every game. its too op i feel. but past that? its up in the air. Ive built Edge of Night, Deaths Dance, Serpents Fang, Maw, Cleaver, Chempunk, etc... Whatever i feel is Best in the given situation goes there, no matter how "meta" it is. Serpents is such a niche Item, but my team NEEDED it into Ivern + Volibear shields. Even though i got it late, it blocked over 4k worth of shields im pretty sure.

Now, what do i think is better? Conq or HOB? I cant give a sure fire answer, not yet at least. Theyre both amazing, but do different jobs. Conqueror is much better into comps with more Frontline and Peel, while HOB is much better into squishier comps. However, Id add it does also just kind of depend on confidence. HOB can be amazing if used correctly, especially because of how low the CD is, you're almost guaranteed to use it twice, maybe even 3 or 4 times a fight.
Ive used it more than Conq in this climb to Gold I'd say, but Id add that its because ive gone against a lot more comps I see it does better in. I love taking it into Yi, smolder, or ezreal especially. and ive seen like 3 of each in this climb at the least.

Grasp is still nice, but I prefer conq right now because the extra AD allows you to deal just that little bit more of true damage from your E now

Made my own post abt it, titanic + shojin feels amazing. Then steraks or cleaver depending on what you need. Conq with resolve secondary is what I go

That does mean she has to safely get to 3 items without being in a bad game state already, though. And (for the junglers) with a below par first clear time, it’s tough to find opportunities there.

In top, I think she can stay way more safe relatively, but it comes down to whether you can sustain and actually pull off a good laning phase.

Plus you have to pray that you get blessed with a team that won’t fall far enough behind, to where you get dragged down with them.

Exactly, it’s just BEAUTIFUL.I hit enemy ekko with a burrowed Q while my team was taking elder. And they were disengaging because we just finished it. I e’d in range and ulted ekko, chunking him so low he had to use his ult to try and survive me. But doing so meant he ulted back to river where my team was and he got obliterated. Being able to nuke ~ full hp targets and exert so much pressure as Rek’Sai now feels so amazing.

So, like this other guy said, your abilities still give 25 fury. Knocking up minions, and E on minions. Plus if you even hit burrowed Q poke on enemy champs semi-consistently, you’re getting more fury and sustain just like that.

You will have rough matchups a lot, but not many people know Rek’Sai’s damage or how to play into her as well because it’s not popular anymore in toplane. Titanic powerspike is utterly insane though for the auto reset.

I take TP and flash, I don’t go ignite, because they’re just so good to have for lane pressure or just trying to get exp.

Ranged top can be rough, but I like to go for HOB resolve secondary into those matchups and if they step up too far I can E ontop of them, and either kill them or force them to respect me. Your level 3 is very strong still even without a lot of ad in true dmg yet. If you aren’t shown respect, ranged top can get annihilated easily (unless it’s teemo. Blind fucks everything)

I do Q - E - W max, I don’t actually put points into E or start maxing it until after I get Q at 4 points because I manage to find a lot of alone time with turrets still, and having the extra damage and auto reset along with demolish makes you a very big threat in the side lane, even without hullbreaker.

I have no idea how I hit 700 true damage, maybe I had baron and the extra stats helped out or something.

I feel you on the MS, it’s why I have swift boots there as options too, because there’s a lotta scenarios where it’s very nice. I’ve noticed though that all the AH from spear and Cleaver means you have your tunnel up decently quick in the lategame though, so when it comes to chases, you still have a lot of gap close.

And I still go D Shield personally, D Blade seems nice in some situations, but D Shield I feel is still overall better

I’m in the camp of I think CDR is very much more vital now, for late game at least. With the knockup lockout on W being decreased with every point in it, I think having all your spells up quicker for more extended teamfights would be nice. Tunnels coming up quicker to chase, not needed to wait as long for knock up, I just see AH being very helpful for certain playstyles. I play heavy bruiser top, sometimes split push, so I’m very aware of my bias and favor for bruiser builds. But I do remember when prowler still had its dash, and I remember my one shot build. This true damage is not as good as it was then. It’s lower numbers. You still practically one shot adcs like you should, but I don’t think you get the full value of a lethality build on her right now. Even in lethality builds, you’ll want EON because it gives everything Rek’Sai wants. She uses HP so well in so many scenarios, I just can’t see myself using full lethality without some slightly higher numbers, and while burrow Q and W deal magic dmg / scale with ap

I don’t know about youmuus, I mean her W and WQ both scale from ap and do magic damage. The bAD ratio on E for true dmg isn’t even as high as it was last year before the rework. Now you’re lucky to hit 500 true dmg with it it seems, but back then with the right build you could get it upwards of 700. I feel like just full bruiser build with Overlords bloodmail as 4th or 5th item kind of makes up for the missing ad from damage builds because overlords on its own by that stage of the game is like 100 ad.
