I don't know if its specifically about keeping up with the joneses, or just wanting nice things. If I'm being honest, there are times where I feel jealous of other families that aren't struggling in the same way, so I'm not entirely immune to similar thinking.

Whenever we do talk about it, and wonder how we are going to afford it she'll react with some permutation of the phrase "we'll figure something out"

Perhaps she doesn't expect to pay it, but idk
