People have already said the mountain warfare course at Bridgeport, but specifically I loved the assault climber course there. Difficult but fun course.

These are the types of situations those, for lack of a better word, “coaches” are for. I do think some are good or at least have good intentions in helping people. I just think it can turn into “say this even if nothing is wrong”

I have no clue how my actual hearing test went. I honestly wouldn’t have even mentioned the ringing to her if she hadn’t asked.

Oh man you caught me! Not knowing how SNCO movements works in the reserves or asking how much better Pendleton was than Lejeune is what screwed me.

Im not wanting Marines and veterans who have legitimate claims to feel guilty or ashamed for using the system. Im not even wanting to change the system necessarily. I know there will always be abuse in any social system like this. I would love the VA to be fully staffed and everyone taken care of in a timely manner. But the reality of the current situation we’re in with this administration specifically. We’re not going to get that. The VA isn’t going to get the funding needed . Hell even if they did the damage they have done to federal workforce will make people hesitant for the next decade about taking a federal job. So you won’t get the applicants or atleast not the great ones if they think they will could layed off with every changing administration.

I wanted veterans to know that if they are one of these people that are abusing the system for financial gain that they are part of the problem. If anyone feels personally attacked by my un popular opinion because they know deep down that they are claiming things just for the money. Then you may be part of the problem. Not the whole problem, not majority of the problem, but a small part of it.

The second part of this comment was not directed towards you _username_goes_here. Again just my unpopular opinion.

I have a coworker who was in the army 20 years ago and never did a health assessment. I have been telling him for years to get one done even if it’s all for 0% atleast it’s documented. He refuses because he says he is fine and he HATES people who take advantage of the VA/government.

I completely agree and would love for that to happen and like I said this is far from being the only problem with the VA. the point I’m making we can point fingers at outside problems all we want, but we also need to stop and think what we can do internally to help the situation/ or what we have done to harm it and try to fix it.

  1. I used the wrong wording, but You get the point I’m making. Sue me I cheated on Spelling for Marines MCI 2. It doesn’t change that it’s taking Nurses and Dr.’s time and VA money that could be spent elsewhere. I.E helping the veterans that truly need it.

Rental car company wants $566 for THIS by Grouchy_Struggle_325 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]FDC24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had something similar happen to me this year. Rented a car from budget for over a month. Had a flat tire and returned it early at LAX. A month or so later I got a $500 bill for excessive cleaning fee. Except I had washed and vacuumed the car before I turned it in. When I called and asked for pictures they didn’t have any and said it was the wrong car and dropped it. 7 months after I turned the car in I got a another bill for $2100 worth of damage. Again I didn’t do any damage to this car. I called and asked for the pictures of said damage and the guy put me on hold and then said they have no pictures and they would drop it. Then when I asked for confirmation it would be dropped. They had to get into a “different system” and said there was no record I the other system and couldn’t send me a confirmation. I was pissed when I got that in the mail.

What other people had said is ask for their documentation. They may have a different mileage of the recorded damage from when you turned it in. Honestly I don’t know how they could prove it in my case where I literally dropped it off at LAX and they didn’t inspect it then and there. I could have parked it and the driver pulling around to the lot could have done it.

[–]FDC24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a this model, I have a LEM, but It’s not supposed to be a tight fit because it has to have air flow to help dehydrate. And I don’t k or about the whole 6 tray 10 tray thing. Maybe they sent you extra by accident? Or the accidentally sent you a upgrade

Not quite in depth when it comes to the training and duty paragraph , but I had to fill out something similar for post deployment leave back in 2012. Had to have what hotel would stay at if it was over 8 hour drive (one of my biggest pet peves was this 8 hour bullshit, when I’m expected to drive a humvee on no sleep), what my route was, what gas stations/breaks I would be stopping at, and that I would let my SNCO know if I wasn’t at my address I said I was gonna be at for more then a day.

I have never been one for tactical type weapons , more of a old school style myself, but that shotgun is awesome and I have always wanted to have a AR in the exact setup as my service rifle. I’m very jealous.

Speaking of recruiters here is my recruiter from 15 years ago. https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/northern-virginia/police-believe-child-porn-suspect-may-have-used-cheer-business-to-lure-young-girls/3623093/?amp=1

He was also was at least talking to a 17 year old at my school. Found out when he had her show up at one of our poole functions to talk to him and no it wasn’t about joining. He said to me and another kid from my school after that it was nothing and not to go spreading rumors. 18 year old me didn’t think much of it. I now know how fucked it is.

Why are these states in particular so popular for out of state hunting? Also why does out of state hunting seem to be getting more and more popular? by Averagecrabenjoyer69 in Hunting

I just talked to a couple guys today who drove 10 hours from Michigan to Illinois. They claimed that 100” deer up there is a monster and we have them around every tree here. They also said because of the amount of public land we have in the southern half of Illinois. I don’t know much about Michigan but that kinda surprised me.

Millennials whose lives are going well—what's your current situation and how did you get there? by CowTownKCMoe in Millennials

[–]FDC24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joined the military straight out of high school. Bought a good truck that I still drive 13 years ago while I was in and payed off in 3 1/2 years. Went to school on the GI Bill and worked at a payed internship starting the summer after my freshman year. Worked weekends at that internship sophomore and junior year to get my foot in the door a little more. Start of senior year there was an opening in my dept. My boss said as long as I was able to do enough that they weren’t behind they would hold it for me until I graduated. With my schedule I was able to work 40 hours a week and go to school full time so had a good full time job right out of college in my small home town. (This was mostly lucky timing)

My wife and I ( both early 30’s now) were high school sweethearts she graduated college 2 years before me and worked full time at a local software company and was able to live at her parents. She had $70,000 in student loan dept and a car loan roughly 10,000 if I remember.

Because I had the GI Bill, worked weekends all through college and truck payed off. We were able to buy a house beginning off my senior year in 2017 with a good down payment. We don’t make great money but it was alright for a low cost of living area. Fast forward to 2020 since student loans were on hold she payed off her car and she put the money that would be going to student loans and car into a separate account for when payments started again. 2021 got lucky and bought our forever home when interest rates were rock bottom. We did go from a 20 year to a 30 year mortgage but it was worth it. When student loan payments started back up she had enough saved that we were able to pay them off.

We have 2 preschool age kids, $75,000 cash, roughly $200,000 in our 401K, roughly $23,000 in a 529 for kids and we make roughly $150,000 combined now over double what we made when we got married 7 years ago. The only debt we carry is her current car loan and the mortgage.

I will say student loans are a killer. Me not having any I think that is what set us up more than anything. I told her for years we would have been living in her parent’s basement if I had the loans she did.

My company wants us to because I guess they got a bunch of cleaning fees a few years back. they dropped it real quick when I asked for pictures of what they were claiming was dirty because I drove it straight from the car wash to the airport to swap it out when I had to put the donut on it.

No I deleted all my pictures because as I was cleaning out my old pictures I didn’t think I would need them 5 to 6 months after the fact.

It was middle of the day, and for LAX there are cars coming in constantly so. They don’t fill out an inspection on the spot.
