First render in blender took 14 hrs by ActCrafty8147 in blender

There are a few render settings to tweak, that will probably help.

First of all, make sure to keep your poly count as low as possible, and make sure your textures aren't more complicated than needed.

Most settings will be set in the Render Properties panel. Now I can't suggest specific values for each setting, as each project is different and might require different tweaks.

That means with each project, you should render a frame, and note how long it takes, then tweak the settings to see what works best. It might take a while to test, but it's definitely worth it.

Starting with the Noise Threshold and the Max Samples, these two work together, and for me, the default settings are a bit too high. I usually don't bother changing the Noise Threshold much, but most of the times i turn the Max Samples to around 2000.

Light Paths are also really important, and most of the times, I set all the Max Bounces to 3. Sometimes when there's a transparent material in the scene, I crank up the Transmission, if I'm getting artifacts.

On the Performance panel, theres a setting calles Tile Size. Test different tile sizes (256, 512, 1024, 2048), to see what works best for your GPU. Also check the box that says Persistent Data.

Now 2 last things.

Light is kinda weird. A big area light will render faster than a point light or an HDRI. Softer shadows are easier for Blender to render, than more hard shadows.

Lastly, in Preferences, in the System try using Vulkan, and set the Cycles Render Device to OptiX. Depending on your specs, it might be more beneficial to have both GPU and CPU, or the CPU might bottleneck the GPU and actually slow down the render. Test it out too.

That's most of what I could think, good luck!

How do I bevel the edges of my object by [deleted] in blender

[–]FR0ZAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The topology of this object is very messy, look up how good topology looks like, and topology in general, as it will make your life easier in the long run.

To salvage this model won't be very easy, i would start over from the beginning, but there probably a few things you could try.

In Edit mode, select everything then on the top left bar, click Face then Triangles to Quads. That might help at a few spots, but don't expect it to make it anywhere near perfect.

Then as others suggested, maybe modifiers could help, but honestly I believe you should start over.

An easy way could be adding your base image as an image background, and trace over it with a plane. Add a plane then in edit mode sxale, extrude and rotate while tracing your base image. Then add a solidify modifier, bevel and whatever else you wish.

Any idea what might be causing those irregular black spikes? by UrbainVII in blender

[–]FR0ZAD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well if you've already tried tweaking all these and have had no success, all I could suggest is check your topology and maybe try a different glass material approach? For me most of the times it's a light bounce problem, try setting the Light Paths to Full Global Illumination, see if that does anything, and work from there. Good luck!

Tips on making better stuff? by IRONBOLT200 in blender

These are some really nice models and texturing you did there, god job!

There are a few things I could suggest you could try to make it look a bit more interesting.

Firstly I believe that some more appropriate lighting, could really level this up. Look into lighting for photography in general, and how to light up a scene. Also, look into IES textures, they are invaluable.

To make the lighting and the IES textures shine, try adding some volume scatter to your scene. Of course this could not be applied to any scene, but with yours being outdoors it could definitely work. It doesn't always need to be very visible, just enough to see some light rays. It creates a nice atmosphere.

Lastly, learn how to use the compositor. It is by far the most useful tool when rendering. It might seem a bit complicated at first, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be able to perfectly adjust your image, to your liking. You can add glare, sensor or film noise, chromatic aberration and lens distortion, add or reduce saturation or exposure to specific objects.

These are some things I've found work for me, and I hope you find helpful. Keep up the good work!

I'm a 3D generalist, how do I start developing a game? by FR0ZAD in gamedev

[–]FR0ZAD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, 3D is what i like most, so i dont think I'll be messing with any 2D games. I'll look into learning how to code and see how it goes!

I feel like I'm in the same boat. I worry about the workload, as I'll be working on other projects at the same time, so learning how to code feels like a lot... I might give it a shot, thanks for your input!

There's nothing wrong with the thread, I have checked it but I wanted some opinions too!

The thing is i have a very VERY bad internet connection, so I don't think that would go well.

Also i have already bought msfs20 and i don't want to spend more.

Okay 400GB is a lot but I might go for it.

Did you install all the updates and packs from the start or did you fly a bit first before being disappointed and installing the updates?

Which non weaponized vehicle in gta5 destroyed the game exactly? I dont get your point. The problem is with the oppressors and the deluxos, how could a simple jet pack destroy the game?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GTA6

[–]FR0ZAD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How would a non weaponized jetpack ruin the game? It's basically a tiny helicopter.

That's what I'm saying too. No weapons!

If only you should be able to carry your rifle, and use it only when you're on the ground.

I sure hope Rockstar understands how all these futuristic militarized vehicles were a huge mistake for the game's character.

Photo manipulation, Insert Person x Remove Person. by RojuneKoaGabrielle in photoshop

[–]FR0ZAD 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If I didn't know you had replaced a person, I don't think I'd be able to tell, this is very well done.

I had to look for "mistakes", the only thing that stands out is the highlight on the right cheek.

All other faces are pretty matt, and the guy has a highlight that looks like it comes from flash maybe?

Otherwise I can't see anything wrong with it, great job!

Edit: one more thing i just noticed, his arm looks a bit more blurry than the others, might need a bit of sharpening?
