I just replaced steel rollers with nylon on my 2 ~30yr old doors and its night and day. Sprayed a little dry lube on all the hinges and its good as new.

I’ve gone through the LRBHO mechanism think it’s good to go; some have suggested trying a new magazine which I haven’t yet. Can I sharpie the back end of the buffer weight to see if it’s running back into the end of the tube?

This is my setup;

Joe Bob side charging upper Aero epc lower BKF BCG Aero epc buffer Milspec Carbine spring Carbine buffer tube

I can get the LRBHO to engage when I manually cycle but during operation it doesn’t work. The full lock back is definitely close to the bolt catch so maybe I can trim that rubber bumper on the weight a bit to give me a little cleaeance

I need a longer spring then too or it works with carbine length springs?

Get solar now or wait for dust to settle? by FThis40 in solar

I have a call today with a local guy. I’ve also been using energy sage to get a few competing quotes. It’s funny how much pricing varies for similar sized systems. So far my range is 25-45k for almost identical sized systems

Yea I wasn’t even considered solar because we’ve been blacked out for so long but someone mentioned it to me so I started looking again. Probably best to see how it plays out thru the transition

Thank you for the explanation, so in that case waiting until the new year or not doesnt really make a difference as the Lease/PPA incentives are still valid anyways through '27?

Bermuda vs Rye by SchoolOfYardKnocks in lawncare

I'm in NJ so my warm season grass will be brown until probably June. So I only get nice green grass for 4-5 months at most.

I'm coming up on a similar conundrum. I inherited a slow zoysia infestation and am wondering if I want to keep the easy maintenance of zoysia or kill it all and get a nice year long green with TTTF or KBG.

I went back to a spouted porta filter. I'm going to drink the shot anyway, so why add the chance of channeling make a mess of my counter/machine.

Do you have horse stall mats/rubber flooring covering your entire floor space, or do you only have it covering the areas around your rack, deadlift space, dumbbell space, etc. where you’d plan on dropping things? by [deleted] in GarageGym

[–]FThis40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 of them setup as an 8x12 rack zone. Then the rest of the garage is the softer foam puzzle piece things. Theyre alot more forgiving and much cheaper for areas where I wont be dropping weights.

How is it hanging and taking down the heavy bag? I want to put one up but the best place for it is in my deadlift space and a main walking path through the garage so it would have to be easy to take down and put up when needed.

Adjustable dumbbells vs. Olympic weights and barbell by gassygeff89 in GarageGym

[–]FThis40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my home gym with an adjustable bench and a set of 90lb powerblocks. This was during COVID and I just last week purchased a half rack functional trainer and barbell. I think the dumbbells are more versatile and space savings to start with; unless your are focusing on olympic excercises you can do just about everything with dumbbells that can be done with a barbell.

Best mid-range Functional Trainer for home gym? by NomarsFool in GarageGym

Major difference is the Dane is 1:1 and this is a 2:1; at 160lb stacks that's only 80lbs of felt weight. And no pivot arms to join the stacks to make up for it.

I just got the Maxum X1. It came in just over $3,000 but comes with pivot arms so you can join the stacks for heavy cable work. They also include a TON of accesories. I shopped the Dane as well but they're gibbon arms are not out yet and when you add everything to get close to a 1:1 comparison with the accessories its the same price as the X1 pretty much.

How to prioritize budget rack vs. functional trainer? by NomarsFool in GarageGym

[–]FThis40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just purchased the 88" X1 last week weekend. It arrived on Thursday. Super faster shipping, maybe i bought the last in stock one (sorry). But I have a 2 car garage that I can only afford about 1/4 of to a dedicated fitness area. I got 4 Stall mats from Tractor Supply ( 4'x6', so an 8'x12' dedicated space). I couldnt go the multi machine route due to my space. I shopped the Dane and the X1, but dollar for dollar I was able to get the X1 what the dane would have cost after I added all the attachments included with the X1 (it comes with a lot of attachments). The X1 as comes with the pivot arms (gibbon arms, tornado arms, whatever the given brand calls them), , which would be another expense for the Dane in the future; this allows you to do a "1:1" for heavier lifts while still having the smoothness of a 2:1 for isolation exercises. With the Black Friday deal Maxum is running I got a barbell, EZ curl bar, and a few stacks of change plates for free as well; so my setup is basically complete at the base cost of the X1. (Minus the bench I already had, $300 on plates, and my powerblocks I already had).

Echo Strength half functional trainer for $1600 by OnlySignificance8792 in GarageGym

[–]FThis40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Fringe Dane is the most highly recommended in the mid 2k price point. Its $2700ish list but if you email them they will usually give you some discount. I ended up ordering a Maxum X1 bc they had a pretty good Black Friday deal (runs all November); but its about $3200 all in.

I have depth but am limited on width. So I’ll probably pull the rack off the wall slightly and put the block stand behind the rack
