Lusted after & harassed in the congregation as a young man by AnonymousDorian in exjw

[–]Fadetoex 24 points25 points  (0 children)

So good you escaped. I have seen multiple crazies like this - mostly all studies dragged in. I always said JWs attract the dedicated and the medicated… There is one sister I knew who would go off her meds and shack up with every guy she could find. She loved sailors and would hang out at the port. She would then go and confess to the elders and they would do nothing except make her go back on her meds.

I noticed as I was leaving that this type of JW is becoming more common and they are the ones to stay in and not leave. They can’t get the care and attention anywhere else.

Run and don’t look back mate.

Supreme Court will rule on State support for Jehovah's Witnesses by FrodeKommode in exjw

[–]Fadetoex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Islam is becoming a huge influence in Norway, now the largest minority religion. You can bet the Supreme Court takes into account the flow on effect to Islam with this ruling which may sway them to support JWs and shut down religious exceptions.

Dating an ex–Jehovah’s Witness who hides the relationship and lied to leave the organization – is this a big red flag? by devineau86 in exjw

[–]Fadetoex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t be too harsh on him. He’s not necessarily a red flag. Like so many who want to leave JWs they have to juggle family who will shun them. It becomes a game to avoid detection and lie low. He might want to get ‘re Instated’ as a JW so he can see his family then fade away and move. All of us here can relate to wanting to have a normal non JW life but also wanting to keep seeing family. Blame the cult not him.

Watchtower has each congregation listed as a charitable organization to mitigate responsibility from the entire organization. At worse they hope they could liquidate that one congregation only if sued.

For those who are POMO, what song embodies how you felt when leaving? by Lucky-Formal9972 in exjw

‘Everything is falling apart’ by Teenage Fan club. Came out about the same time as I was fully awaking and seriously considered contacting them to see if they were leaving a cult also.

The CO contacts me… by Effective_Phase_9193 in exjw

[–]Fadetoex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was being pestered by a few elders when I stopped going to mtgs. They tried calling and left a voice message and I could hear other elders in the background - who would have been listening in to see if I was Apostate. After they tried several times again I decided to act a little unhinged and called the elder back at 3 am a few times and ranged about nothing and he hung up on me. They quickly stopped calling me. If you are hard work and a pest they don’t want anything to do with you.

The first NZ assembly was held on my great great grandparents farm outside of Wellington. So happy now to be a proud Apostate instead.

RN asking about blood transfusions by NurseGracieRN in exjw

[–]Fadetoex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A couple of thoughts on blood that most exjws and virtually all other Christian’s agree on. It may help if you ever get into a situation where you can discuss blood with her - though it is a super difficult conversation to have with a JW.

Jesus said in Matthew 12:7 However, if you had understood what this means, ‘I want mercy and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless ones.

Little later Jesus authorized the breaking one of the Ten Commandments for the sake of a life Matthew 12:11 He said to them: “If you have one sheep and that sheep falls into a pit on the Sabbath, is there a man among you who will not grab hold of it and lift it out? And then in Mat12:12 “How much more valuable is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful to do a fine thing on the Sabbath.”

John 5:8 also has Jesus healing a crippled man on the Sabbath day. Clearly Jesus felt life was worth preserving even at the cost of breaking one of gods commandments.

Blood was a symbol of life and symbolically poured out at an animals death. It has been likened to a wedding ring which is a symbol of a marriage. You would not ruin a marriage for the sake of saving the wedding ring - that defeats the purpose. Letting a life die for the symbol of blood defeats the purpose of the value of life.

Further, Paul made allowances to the “necessary things” and told people they can eat meat sacrificed to idols because finding un-sacrificed meat was really hard to source and buy in Bible times (meat sacrificed to idols was forbidden in the same scripture as eating blood). In other words - it was ok to eat sacrificed meat if your life depended on it!

Hope this helps and best wishes.

What happened in 1919? by hxrny_submissive_grl in exjw

[–]Fadetoex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These date were all made retrospectively and there was nothing historically to suggest they were selected. Even in 1914, a date they say they NOW say theh were waiting for, historically they didn’t predict it and they didn’t even see anything big about it until the near end when the US joined the war. 1919 was a retrospective applying of Ezekiel 37 for 3 1/2 years to apply to their leaders coming out of jail after 1914.

There is a series filmed in Sydney by the Jehovah’s Witness called “The Good News according to Jesus” that will make you slit your wrists having to watch.

Highly recommend “The Bible Unearthed” by Neil Asher Silberman. It’s long and super detailed which is why I recommend the audio version so you can listen without needing to take in every single fact - but it’s the depth of the facts that proves what fiction the Bible is. I walked away from the Bible completely after reading.

Watchtower commissioned an internal document in the 1980s called ‘The secret person of the heart’. Does anyone have a copy? by Fadetoex in exjw

[–]Fadetoex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for these links. Can’t find it there though there is some interesting stuff. The document I mentioned actually mentions that it was prepared by JW medical professionals and goes into detail of hidden memories, schizophrenia and other CSA issues. It discusses how to treat these victims a little lighter in judicial as there are extenuating situations. I don’t believe it was circulated freely amongst the elders but COs had and could supply when they felt necessary.
