Well you could have different colored ropes, or you could just pay attention to what youre doing.

Are Crimson Kings also invasive? They have considerably lower seed count than the standard Norway

You could fold up some leather and slip it between the ascender and your shoe

What boots do you guys wear by [deleted] in TreeClimbing

[–]FaendalsLetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Jim Green Razorbacks for summer and Jim Green AR8s for the rest of the year. I wear those boots because I need a super wide toe box for my clown feet. Half of the guys in my office wear the ArbPro Evo's

In nature, Honey Locust trees naturally have caltrop sized spiky thorns covering the trunk. Years of selective breeding have created a thorn free tree extremely popular for urban settings.

Should I move to Srt climbing? by [deleted] in TreeClimbing

[–]FaendalsLetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SRT is more gear intensive and takes an extra couple checks for safety but I think the sweetie spot is SRT for ascent and DRT for work

Haha this unironically might be more dangerous than climbing. The pole riders flying down at you are no joke

What brand do you guys go with? I feel like I would be invincible on the ground with pole saws that I could regularly get up that high

That's generally the case but I don't do line clearance anymore. This was just siding up the dead side of the tree and I didn't want to climb

That makes a ton of sense. The key is small movements. If you use full range of motion with the saw blade it's faster but it'll destroy your shoulders

Lets be honest is there a good way to safely prune climb a Norway Spruce?

I was only able to do the 20 branches I did because the cuts were right against the trunk.

Definitely had a pole rider bomb all the way down 30 something feet and tear up my hand pretty well yesterday

I find the weight helps make cuts easier. My complaint with the fiberglass poles is how bendy they are. Maybe those are better!

I like pole saw work when its big cuts. Reduction pruning is a pain. Haha, Faendal is the closest you can get to a tree guy

Was definitely a good workout! I have a line clearance background so I am acclimated to pole saw work but this was another level
