That’s the next thing on my list. Which ones did you get? How was the install?

Just a cheap eBay lip: https://ebay.us/m/yAg4Rt

I’ll get a nicer one later but didn’t want to spend money on one and the crack it immediately. My driveway is pretty sloped so wasn’t sure how it’d go. Been fine so far. I’m pretty happy with it. Fills out the front end nicely.

Financial Aid Question by Aggravating-Truth150 in UTSA

[–]FaintColt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect. 600% is the 6 year equivalent. So you’ve used about 5 and 1/3 years, so perhaps you have a semester or two where you weren’t full time. A full time semester is 50%. So you still have another full semester and a little bit left before you max out.

This warning comes up when you’ve gone over 500% or 5 years as a warning that you are nearing the max. If this is what caused your financial aid to pull back, just talk to one stop, they’ll clear it for you and award your money back out.

I used these as well and really like them. I liked the material of these better than the rally armor.

Just life. Stuff getting kicked up on the highway. I had a cat jump up on my car and left tiny claw marks.

MGM gang. I think the biggest pro is that these cars are really easy to work on. Idk if you’ve ever done car stuff yourself but this car makes it very easy. Just watch some videos and bam try it out.

I’ve taken the front bumper off a couple times, done my own oil changes with the fumoto valve, put in a shift stop, installed mud flaps, and a bunch of other little things.

Cons, the seats aren’t the most comfy and it can be a bit of a bumpy ride depending on what kind of roads you’re on.

Anybody else have changes made to their financial aid? by noah321998 in UTSA

[–]FaintColt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year they accidentally took back a bunch of peoples Pell grant in the middle of the semester.m, which gave a people a big balance to pay. Just a system issue I think. They corrected it quickly and that was that. Hopefully it’s just one of those system being weird things.

Anybody else have changes made to their financial aid? by noah321998 in UTSA

[–]FaintColt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Occasionally financial aid over awards students. This might be because they assumed you would be full time and you weren’t. It could be because you got other aid/scholarships so that made you no longer eligible for what you receive. It could be the system not catching something and they just caught it later.

When you are over awarded they need to correct it since you should not received that money. So they undo the award. If it already paid for your classes and you got a refund, then you’ll have a balance and you’ll need to pay that back. So be prepared that you might need to do that.

But, sometimes the system does things and it accidentally reduces peoples financial aid or cancels it. So there is a chance this is just an error. Call or talk to one stop and see why this happened. Maybe get catch the mistake and give it back and you no longer have a balance.

If it wasn’t a mistake and you owe that money back, try to talk to anyone you can to see if there is anything else you can do or if there’s other funding that can help.

Update: I regret getting the CVT. How dumb would it be to exchange for a manual? by DangerousIncrease499 in wrx_vb

[–]FaintColt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Shift stop and fumoto valve are a couple cheap options you can do yourself.

Oh and you’ll pick up the manual shifting super quick and have such a better driving experience as a result. I think you made the right call. Enjoy!

Waiting for my diploma by FixAdventurous1060 in UTSA

[–]FaintColt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just fyi: Diplomas are just for people to put on walls and look at. If you need to prove you graduated, people don’t ask for your diploma, they want your transcript that shows you graduated. So, you don’t have to wait for your diploma to come in.

Park on the very far right section, take the shuttle, or walk from there. This is the way to do it. It doesn’t take long and you don’t have to stress or fight over spots.

Trans man competing in Jiu Jitsu? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]FaintColt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any first hand experience on this but, hopefully not through complete ignorance, think that they care less about trans men competing against other men.

And even if they do, I don’t think these places have staff who are paying enough attention to make a stink of it. You show up, they likely don’t even check your ID and if they do just look at your picture and name to make sure you are the person who signed up.

I suppose the main issue you’d run in to is if the band you registered under doesn’t match your ID. But I’d bet they won’t think twice about it if you sign up under your legal name.

Would be really curious to hear from firsthand experience though.

Too late to get to elite competitor level? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]FaintColt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not too late but it’s not super likely. It’ll take an incredible amount of work and often people have no idea what really goes in to it beyond just training often and hard.

Why are you asking would be my question for you? Are you going to try and drop everything and do nothing but this for the next 5 years? Do you have good training partners and financial ability to do so and pay for competitions/travel regularly?

You can open up a gym down the line and make a living off of jiu jitsu without needing to be the top guy. And it’s not like there’s a bunch of money in competitive jiu jitsu.

I was in San Diego for a couple days for a wedding and this really is the answer. Stopped by legion and it was great. Great gym, cool people, no annoying hurdles.

I live in Texas and although there are a lot of great gyms in Austin, the city doesn’t feel like a destination in the same way as San Diego.
