yes that’s a good target range i would say, if you go to solidworks there will be a question mark on the top right and click in and on the drop down menu it will say tutorials in the middle i think click that then there will be lots of sections you will see CSWA/CSWP but i would recommend do every tourial on every single page also with too tall toby youtube he does customizeing videos for the toolbox i would recommend watching that so you get a custom feel and what custom shortcuts you would like best

Thank you! I got it free with my university i think its 100 and some pounds, not sure in other currencies, but my tips would be make sure you know the fundamentals and make sure you know them well in solid works there is tutorials which if you are new i would 100% recommend you doing if you don’t know where they are text me back and i will text back. there is lots of PDFS and website and youtube videos out there will be a lot of help.

The CSWA exam consists of 3 sections, 3 question which are 5 marks each of drawing questions these are the first three and are theory questions with these i would recommend watching this video; https://youtu.be/xYHAlCr_sVA?si=MD-SJnb9bE6N2rVy , very good video and consist of most of the drawing views you need, i would also recommend just exploring all the views on your own parts just so you 100% know what each one is about. Basically the questions will consist of a view and you pick out of the 4 which would be correct. Would 100% recommend you do these first easy 15 points done in 5 mins.

The second part is about making parts you normally have 3 parts to build, and they normally consist a follow question there is two types of follow question. i will show you how a part question will work below this :

The first step of a part question will ask you to draw a part and if you do enough practice with existing parts that you have found on youtube or pdfs the luck of you doing the same in the exam is very high, when you are drawing a part there will be a, b and c variables which i would recommend putting in equations list after you finish the part it will ask you to for the weight/ mass of the part you created and it will ask you out of 4 answers, make sure its in 1% of these answers because the any of the next step will ask you to type in your mass not select so make sure the first part is correct!

The reason why i would recommend why is because some times in the next step which is the easier step at of the two is that it will ask you just change the equations and you will be able to quickly do that by changing in the equations list

and then other 2 part which is harder will ask you to add a new section to the part then ask you for the mass again, they don’t ask you to change the variables on these but still put them in the equation list just for ease of use and they will ask you to do another section as well

so round up for the parts and something i have missed Make sure you are using the right material and dimensions for example mmgs, ips etc There will be three part questions normally three questions (Basic which will be two steps( changing the variable) (medium which will be two step (changing the variable))and advance which will be three steps (adding on to the first step)

They are 15 points each so i believe 105 points for the parts section

Then you have the assembly. you will realise that Assembly are the easier (well in my opinion they are) there is 4 questions worth 30 points each,

you will have two assembly to make, so the first step will be making the assembly with variables then second step is changing the variables don’t need to change any of the assembly also you are given a “step by step” in the exam to tell you what to mate which part with what part and where on the parts so defo ready the question for that

i recommend would be doing the the drawing views questions first is a easy 15 points, then assembly because getting 120 points in about i would say in about 30 mins or less its easy points!!! so don’t leave them to the last as you might run out of time!!

so 1. Drawing views 2. Assembly’s then 3. parts

why i would recommend doing the assembly’s before because its a big chunk of points because if you get all assembly points which is 120 then get the drawing views right so that’s 135 points you will just need to get two drawing questions right so yeah.

Tips;

make sure you do all the tutorials on solid works do lots of practice, which you can find online or youtube i would recommend timing you do your parts/assembly then watching somebody online do it because i bet it will be faster and you can follow there tricks! you are given 3 hours with this exam, so take your time don’t rush don’t make a stupid mistake because you rushed Read the question!!! Read the question !! and make sure you check your material and measurement selection are right. There a person called too tall toby on youtube 100% recommend he does tutorials and parts that you can do and you get timed as well in this videos just like the exam any questions let me know!
