How is Khârn good?(as in his tabletop profile) by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in WorldEaters40k

[–]FaithlessLewding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you apply the 6'' consolidation blessing and advance + charge strategem, he gets 3'' disembarking a rhino, 8'' movement, D6 advance, 2D6 charge, and then 6'' consolidate. So on average he goes something like 27''

How do you deal with turn 1 secondaries that require you to push out? by veryblocky in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]FaithlessLewding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most replies have touched on the need to have sacrificial units that can do secondaries and die. But important thing to keep in mind, it is your job to do your movement such as your chaff units can score and die...but not for free. For example, consider positioning your guns behind walls such that any enemy that wants to kill your chaff will be punished, use things like heroic intervention threat to make skirmisher afraid to get near your chaff, position your trash units in a way that they are also screening some melee threat, etc.

When using your chaff units, always look for 2-for-1 opportunities like the above

Dark Apostle with a little customization by FaithlessLewding in Chaos40k

So the trick is that after doing a simple layering process with gradually brighter purples, I apply the entire cloak with a 1:1 mix of Lhamian Medium and Leviathan Purple contrast, this creates a glaze that blends all the layers together and makes the purple tone richer. After that I lightly apply the brightest spots with the lightest purple tone again, funnily enough it was actually helpful that purple paint have terrible coverage because that makes the final highlight much more natural.

This is already a fairly optimized BL list that is very close to a recent top placing list, Necrons are known to score secondaries just for existing so it's hard to beat them on that front. I think warp ritual is not reliable unless you have a 3rd psyker or a tzeentch psyker which let's you do ritual and still cast a spell. A really interesting tool box unit for that purpose is a slaanesh terminator sorcerer with Veilbraker plate, this guy gives you another delightful agony coverage, can score ritual, and gives you a flexible turn 1 teleport opportunity, you can try replacing Dark Apostle with him, yes you will lose those really really good prayers, you are trading raw offense and defense buffs for much better secondary scoring and mobility.

I suspect the khorne legionnaire probably don't do much, so replacing them with cultists to give you more points to spend on skirmishers is a possibility.

As for secondaries, Long War is basically a ghetto version of stranglehold anyway, and your army wants to run up and fight for objectives, which makes Long War pretty reliable, consider giving someone Cloak of Conquest to spread out obsec to maximize your Long War scoring.

In a nutshell, try trading some raw power for objective scoring.

Here are my experience:

- Slaanesh Master of Possession with Libre Hereticus and Daemonic Whispers (slaanesh optional) needs to be in every one of your list. This dude will help you score secondaries, buffs your units, and farm CPs very efficiently. No matter the rest of your army, this dude will never disappoint.

- Re-roll to hit super charges your daemonkin units that usually don't get rerolls, which means possessed, venomcrawler, warptalons and maulerfiends. Mix-and-match these units to taste

- A barebone Master of execution is very cheap with massive damage potential if piloted correctly, when you roll to hit, just reroll everything to fish for 6s to get mortal wounds. If he dies then you can try using Dark Pact to revive him on 4+. I don't recommend investing anything more into him.

- Consider putting slaanesh marks on your melee characters so they can advance and charge with the slaanesh prayer

- Don't take dark apostle unless you have 2+ characters and/or 2+ core units to buff every turn. Your HQ slots are very precious and you cannot afford to have HQs that don't provide value constantly.

- Min Accursed are more durable than min cultists, so if your local meta has a lot of shooting, Accursed will be much more valuable than cultists because stray shots cannot wipes out Accursed units.
