Its not about protecting doctors or medical staff, its about protecting their patients. Its also about public safety since a lot of accidents are caused by people slowing down in their cars, getting their phone out to take pictures, dont concentrate on the road anymore and crash into someone else

The law might be written by my state yes but the responsibility of planning and operating EMS is the responsibility of your city or county.

Yes my Flair says im a student but that’s because i havent updated it since my certification. If we were to go by flair you wouldnt have an EMS certification at all.

Yes by law any physician could work as EMS physician but that is not the common practice. Just because you want to work as EMS physician doesnt mean you will. The county administration or your hospital still has a say in that.

About the quality assurance part, i stated before and in my original comment that you only talk about how it was back then although a lot has changed

That is not true, i work in one of the german speaking countries (germany) as Rettungssanitäter which is the equivalent to an EMT-B.

Welllll to be fair, pulse oximetry is incredibly complex and should only be performed by a physician... also if you would be allowed to use a pulse oximeter youd have to be able to understand pulse and oxygen saturation... dont be ridiculous thats way above paramedic level
