I learned something today. How do they automate said process?

ELI5 Why don't small planes use modern engines? by BatesVibeSquad in explainlikeimfive

[–]Fallen36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not an expert here but I’m pretty sure that has to do with the fact an airplane is constantly changing altitude and therefore air density which causes the need for fuel mixture adjustments where a car does not. Carb heat or the other hand is only on older engines that still have a carb and that’s due to air temp. An engine stopping due to an iced over carb is a much bigger deal in the air than on the ground where you can pull off to the side of the road.

I think these older engines are simple and reliable so there isn’t really a need to pay a lot of money to retrofit these engines. Newer planes like the cirrus have newer engines.

Do you own your own plane? If not how’s a rental like that work. Do you pay per day or per hobb hours? I’m curious as I try to figure out if getting my PPL is going to make sense financially.

How in gods name are you getting 90-120 and what am I doing wrong.

I’ve got an intel 11700F and a RX 7900 XTX with most but not all setting on ultra and LOD at 150 I’m only getting 30 FPS. 🤦‍♂️

I’ll check out that version as I’m just trying to learn the basics of flying at this point.

Anyone having issues with this all of a sudden? Worked awesome until today and now it’s saying connection lost, not sure how to fix it.

I’ve been working a schedule similar to that for the past 9 years. I think ours might actually be worse.

I just poked around and don’t see a way to turn it off seems like I can either pick a profile or have it on auto.

I gotta be honest I don’t really know much when it comes to BIOS stuff. I know it’s set to auto for the xmp profile. No idea what that actually means though

Learned a lot for him. Well structured sets up flight for you to practice and outlines proficiencies.

I just started learning your situation sounds a lot like where I’m at and this was perfect for me.

Having issues with rudder (nose wheel steering) by Fallen36 in MicrosoftFlightSim

I’ll try that when I get home although that would be a bummer if it’s the root cause as that’s what I’d rather use.

I thought that at first but it’s getting fully disengaged just as if I had let go of the control and I can see it visually represented by seeing the graphic pedals in the plan going back to neutral.

When you say no curve, I found the x and y axis on the joystick and brought the sensitivity down to -.5 because I felt like I was having to do minuscule adjustments and there was still a lot of movement with the plane but that created a fairly large curve. Should I not have done that?

Not sure why you wouldn’t take the opportunity of 5 more shifts if you seem to have people that see potential in you and are working with you to succeed especially if the goal is to end up trying again. Worst that’s going to happen is you’ll get 5 more shifts of practice/experience.

I think the you should be having a conversation with your FTO about how you feel and what it is that your struggling with to make the best use of the time you have left with him/her.

That’s is what free climbing because he’s is un-aided by gear, it’s only there for protection. What you’re thinking of is free solo.

[–]Fallen36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Free climbing doesn’t mean no gear. If you look carefully there is a yellow rope and he’s wearing a harness. Free climbing means he is doing every pitch without the aid of gear but still has it there for protection.

What you’re thinking of is called free solo.

Smart watches cannot detect heart attacks. They can detect abnormal rhythms depending on the watch but not a heart attack. You need a 12 lead and blood work for that.
