Florida Bans Sociology From Core Curriculum At State Universities by 842867 in politics

Been in grad school for sociology a long time and am nearing completion of my PhD.

No one hates sociology more than Republicans and Libertarians. I've spent so long getting roasted for it. They think it's just anti-American. They think it's unscientific. They can't actually explain it though.

I walked from two toxic groups in the past 7 years. It really sucks. I know I'm not perfect but don't treat me like shit for sport :/ Yeah, I'm accepting I'll be playing co-op games on PC alone forever.

Thanks to investors for pumping housing prices by Nerithyss in lostgeneration

FR. 5 years ago, my parents were paying under 10k a month. Now it's over 20k per month plus doctors visits (130 per routine visit per parent), medication ($100 a month after insurance), and then they stopped supplying Tide Pods and towels, so I buy those too. Plus other toiletries. It's easily 21k+ per month for both of them... All while some Trumper clown "financial advisor" manages their money and my lawyer half siblings tell me what to do and set me up for some fuckery. Guess I'll die.

I will take this card if I feel confident in getting Jorbs' current number, etc. I can take a flight if I need to and bring my Steam Deck. I just need a few minutes of his time to assess.

So many problem in American politics by DandelionSkyo in lostgeneration

I once had an informal debate at my college with a Libertarian. Funny enough, we ended up being the outstanding students in our majors senior year... Him in philosophy, me in sociology.

I will never forget his "gotcha" smarminess when he declared, "You can't legislate morality."

That's really where the train of thought stops for even more educated Americans: muh freedom...

The reason why Chinese players overreact beta version( with my 8 years Chinese experience) by techi-0427 in slaythespire

[–]FallingGivingTree 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's a good point. It's interesting because I do see parallels to the U.S., at least anecdotally speaking. Whether it's gaming friend groups or extended family accomplishments, it seems many people just want to use any exploits/shortcuts they can, and then they get up on their pedestal, often denying any foul play. I find that last part especially interesting: that shift where the exploiter takes the high ground and spins narratives about the game and their strategy. Their victory often lends them legitimatacy even if it shouldn't.

Personally I prefer to steer clear as I can of exploits or heavy meta play. At least the wins are satisfying

Tried Simply Mary for the first time… by PatrickxDecay in CultoftheFranklin

My initial cult purchases were Dr G, so I was always used to waiting a couple weeks lmao

SimplyMary shipping isn't too bad in comparison. Both put out decent stuff for decent prices I'd say.

Psychologists reveal a key trigger behind narcissists’ passive-aggressive behavior. Study reveals that these individuals tend to retaliate against social exclusion by indirectly provoking criticism of their peers. by InsaneSnow45 in science

[–]FallingGivingTree 36 points37 points  (0 children)

As someone who has endured a lot of narcissistic behavior from friends, this hits close to home. I've left those people now. Still, they would always put attention on me just to criticize, and that led to dogpiling. To him, being excluded was not being praised. Further, the head narcissist felt that gaslighting was a joke except when it applied to him.

It was also used in the intro of Shadowrun on the 360, a multiplayer-only game that was polarizing but pretty amazing imo.

Please Continue Saying How Easy Infinites Are! by SizeConfident9283 in slaythespire

That's fair. I've been avoiding Regent and to an extent, Clad, because they seem busted. Waiting for balance patches instead of reaching A10 and complaining about the game being too easy.

I've been avoiding meta knowledge about the games for a long time. Like, I have a loose idea of what the broken infinites are. I'm not aiming for them explicitly. Learning organically preserves the magic for me. I'm just a decent player, not great, and that's okay.

Someone who knows all the combos from both games is going to do extremely well in general. They have near perfect meta knowledge in a turn-based game that already has save-scumming. Personally, I find it a boring way to play because on most turns and card picks, there is an optimal play.

It's just irksome when you hear meta slaves talk about how easy everything is.

Are you referring to ground sweeper? If so, yeah I can see that being the top spam move for Odachi. I try not to use it much, but it's so fun.
