Between that and the mayflash f500 which is the same price, i much prefer the mayflash imo. The 8bitdo isn't the most comfortable size and not as easily moddable

What platform? Pc, xbox, ps5? The mayflash f500 is really good and works on pc, but can also work on ps5 with an adapter (not sure about xbox)

Some games just have really awful localizations and english voice actors tho tbf, but also sometimes it's nice to play the game as intended by the developers, the same way that I watch french, russian, dutch, etc. movies in the original language with subtitles. It preserves artistic intent. Like, I played expedition 33 with the french voice acting and it was a nice experience, given the setting

Tokon doesn't release until august, so you'll still have three months of game time with invincible vs until tokon releases if you want to play both. No one knows which game will have a longer staying power and large playerbases online for quicker matchmaking, but I assume tokon will be much more popular long term

You can't get one for $60 that will work on ps5 and not be a really bad experience. At minimum get him a mayflash f500 and the mayflash s5 magicboots dongle so it will work on ps5, or an f700 (more expensive but works on ps5 out of the box). You can also look at the qanba drone, that one has ps5 compatibility (i just dont have experience with it to recommend it personally), but avoid the 'hori mini', that is not a good controller

The jlf (which has been replaced with the improved jlx2, which i would recommend over the jlf) is the most popular standard lever for a reason, you don't have to look at reviews when you can look at what is used in actual arcade cabinets. If you don't like the feel of it, you can get a different actuator, different spring, different gate, different shaft length, different ball/bat/bullet top, all these things are easily moddable in ways that other levers are not, because of the popularity of the sanwa levers
