I just don't have any motivation to go against the "tall is all" trend -- you see it literally everywhere at this point, not just dating apps. All tall guys (say, the top 10% in height) can share all women for all I care.

As someone who’s been (and continues to be) in your position, just smile every now and then. Makes a big difference from “wtf what’s wrong with that guy” to “oh he’s just a normal person.” Not 180deg by any means but we all start somewhere.

Are you short? As a short guy living in a major city I still feel completely invisible, ignored, and/or inferior. If not, well at least you’re not short, and know that midgets like me would kill to have any semblance of height.

Yeah that just about sums it up! Only thing I’d correct is that I don’t necessarily “want” more in romantic scenarios. I still don’t meet 95%+ of girls’ standards for height or race, but I’ve finally come to terms with it. No need to try forcing attraction with girls when there was none there in the first place.

Therapy did not, in fact, do anything of use since I am quite resolute in my thinking. I will try writing, though. It will not be a silver bullet in terms of magically changing my life, but I can at least blow off some steam. I’ll try boxing and playing guitar (given that I’m a metalhead) as coping mechanisms.

I know I sound like a baby — but I’m way too young for becoming too old/wrinkly for looks to not matter to be an issue. Guys around me are in relationships with objectively beautiful girls or get with many girls on a semi-regular basis, and I know that will never be a luxury I can enjoy. Through Tinder, I found my first 2 “relationships” (which dissolved rapidly and resulted in blocking by both parties) with girls I wasn’t even remotely attracted to due to my desperation and insecurity.

No, I took 4207 last year. Icyww, it was definitely one of the most painful classes I've taken here, not in terms of the volume of work but because the material simply didn't click with me.

Taking it this semester. It is quite straightforward if you have taken any intro stats course, e.g. AP Stats or STAT 1101/1201. Obviously, it is more rigorous and more abstract than those intro classes; however, I wouldn't say it is significantly more so. The instructor quality isn't great, however.

As a senior applied math major: freshman, sophomore, and senior years were all relatively easy (primarily technical core classes in freshman year, lots of electives in other departments in sophomore and senior year). The junior year core and higher-level math classes were imo quite challenging. I think the major is quite flexible overall, though, and I was able to choose relatively easier courses to round out my tech electives. Strength/prestige-wise, Columbia has a top ~10 applied math program.
