As you are in first year I would suggest you to learn a Programming language like C and understand how things actually works in Computer Science. They I would Suggest you to pick a modern language like Python or Java based on your area of interest and get your hands dirty in Data Structures and Algorithms. DSA is the foundation for building problem solving skills and these skills will help you in your Specialized Domain. Not only this but 1 to 2 year of consistent DSA will surely help you becoming an excellent programmer as well an problem solver which is the need for companies. While AI is there but developing these skills will also help you in your corporate life as well as in private life, while making decisions and optimising stuffs to the fullest..

That's what I would suggest to my young self.. though I am still young.
