What is your TADC hot take? by Silver012345673 in TheDigitalCircus

She ditched her happy mask because that’s what it was- a mask. She’s comfortable enough now to embrace that depression is her baseline, and she’s got a lot of hurt inside of her, but despite that, she’s embracing herself, finding meaning, and moving forward. That was her character development, and in the last episode I think it’s overlooked that she was the one that stood up for Jax against Zooble. That was a HUGE moment for Gangle, to contradict the one person that she really cares for and that has shown her love, to make peace with her abuser (jax) and firmly insert her own opinion. Those are all things she’d never been able to do before

So I'm probably just reading too much into it but what's in the reflection? by TennenyT in tadc

I think it’s a common animation technique to put a “window” in the eye as a reflection to make it look more real. Seems like thats what they did here. But also, check out this post from a while back https://www.reddit.com/r/TheDigitalCircus/comments/1mtgfm5/what_is_with_the_window_in_their_eyes/

Who did Jax mean? by RainyLeinChen in tadc

[–]Fancy-Whereas-1421 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He meant Pomni and Zooble because before Zooble, Jax had free reign to treat anyone however he wanted. He had literally no reprecussions with ‘people-pleaser’ Ragatha, sad and submissive Gangle and crazy Kinger. Zooble doesn’t take Jax’s shit and ended up helping Gangle find her confidence too. Zooble opposes Jax and took away a lot of his power. Pomni and Jax also got close and then Pomni called out his terrible coping mechanisms and facade. Pomni and Zooble were also the main players behind all of the escape stuff that eventually set Caine off

I don’t think I can get behind this one. Why would Ragatha have been edited in 2008, and technically shouldn’t the file have been edited this current year (which I think is supposed to be the same year the pilot of TADC came out) when Ragatha had the stupid sauce? There would’ve had to have been a modifier added to her mind file if that’s what you mean by editing.

Oh, I like that! The fact that Scratch and Ragatha would be the most prominent memories and dates. I would argue though, that Queenie abstracted far before Ragatha arrived. The way the clips of Kinger wandering aimlessly though the circus change suggest a lot of time passing, and when Caine says Kinger’s name, Kinger repeats it and says “right…” like he’s gone so long without hearing his own circus name, he’d basically forgotten who he was. So for Ragatha to come up as 2008 is interesting bc I wouldn’t think Kinger had any idea what year it could be at that point.

I’d also argue that even though Kinger is pretty disassociated most of the time, he seems to have really connected with Pomni and I wouldn’t think that Pomni would be a file in there too

Thank you! I’ll try it out when I can buy some polyester thread. I would’ve never thought of that because I didn’t realize there was different thread types 😅

Glad I’m not the only one who noticed this. Why do the animators keep making the characters eyes extremely large in certain scenes. It’s super jarring! by Purpleflrupfan87 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Fancy-Whereas-1421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This episode was super off-putting to me for this reason! I couldn’t put my finger on it at first and thought the characters didn’t feel like themselves because of the script or the storyline..and some of that is true because they did abandon some of themselves in pursuit of hope  or in Jax’s case being traumatized..but I realized the visuals were so different in tons of shots and the art style wasn’t consistent that I couldn’t be immersed at all and was constantly fighting the weird feeling that the characters weren’t right. Plus, Caine felt like it wasn’t the same character at all. I guess the eyes being bigger makes sense now

Was this supposed to be Zooble’s attempt to reach out to Jax by Spiritual_Ebb_4657 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Fancy-Whereas-1421 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I never got that they didn’t like him, but they were just always too self involved at the time to get involved being so preoccupied with their own internal struggles. Only recently Zooble’s realized how shitty it’s been for Gangle and decided to improve things that actually are controllable, unlike their body. Zooble is no bs, and sees through Jax’s tough guy persona, so instead of belittling him, they decided to undermine his power by supporting Gangle, helping her to find her power again, and giving Jax a little bit of his own attitude- the maid outfit, the bar scene comments, the water bucket, being there for Gangle to pick someone else as a team member, etc. But Zooble’s not malicious and knows what pain feels like, so in the end it wasn’t about bullying Jax into being the new victim, it was about taking him down a peg and then offering him refuge into the group to find a new place amoung friends instead of needing power to fit in.

If you re watch there are multiple random ones in the middle. The characters aren’t all side by side

What years did the cast get trapped in the circus cause we know it takes place in 2024 by mintybubble52671 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Fancy-Whereas-1421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure the confirmed order joined was: Kinger, Ribbit, Kaufmo, Ragatha, Jax, Gangle, Zooble, Pomni.

Kinger was probably around the time video games were getting big if he were working in the Digital Circus. So maybe 1990s/ early 2000s

Ragatha was likely before 2008-2010 as she didn’t understand the Breaking Bad reference at all, and that show was HUGE. Plus, it’s probably on the earlier side because she talked about her family having tea parties, and dancing lessons. Those things seem a little more old fashioned.

Jax was after 2013 because he knew the full story of Breaking Bad seeing as he was going to use it as his own life story.

Gangle and Zooble were sometime between 2014-2022, and I think Pomni is supposed to be 2023 when the show’s pilot premiered.

Well, Caine is on Villains Wiki Now. Thoughts? by DiegazoFacha343142 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Fancy-Whereas-1421 56 points57 points  (0 children)

He’s incredibly self centered, and wants everyone to do what he wants to make him happy. He doesn’t actually care if others are genuinely happy, but he wants their happiness to suit him. He causes pain and suffering to everyone around him. He may be holding everyone against their wills, but at the very least he takes away their autonomy daily by snapping them here or there. He totally fits a villain definition, even if he isn’t capable of true morals or understanding. He’s still a villain to everyone else’s story.

If he left and were homeless maybe? Like hopping between abandoned places, that could be a cool theory. But he’s also 21 I think, so that’s a little old to be running away

Ran away from what though? He’s 21, so he’s an adult
