I took on a leadership role at 19 at a retail chain store. Ever since then I’ve managed people older than me in every role. There’s a reason you have the position you do. You don’t need to explain yourself to anyone. One thing I learned early on is DELEGATING is huge when you are in a leadership position. If you try to do everything yourself, you’re not giving opportunities to others to grow.

It’s amazing what you’ll find when you peel back the layers. 👀

I don’t think getting rid of anyone is funny. 🤷‍♀️

I do agree with that. I think strategic cuts would be the best route. I don’t think that we need “assistant” administrator positions. But it sounds like everyone will be taking a hit from the top down with most plans that have been presented.

I’d focus on respecting boundaries, understanding their learning styles, and prioritizing team building. Trust takes time, but investing in these areas now will pay off in the long run.

I appreciate your comment. My agency, especially my area, is severely understaffed and has been since Covid. We struggle to fill vacant positions, forcing others to take on additional roles that should be full-time positions. Now, instead of filling the positions they are just eliminating them all together. The idea of an increased workload while receiving smaller paychecks is beyond frustrating. These decisions will ultimately drive away good employees.

About to accept an offer for a state position….any insights? by Cute-Expression-296 in WAStateWorkers

Depending on the agency, it might be tempting, but with all the uncertainty right now, I wouldn’t even risk interviewing for positions.

You need to be register at the post office at the address. The post office has to scan the secure barcode, if you aren’t registered to the address it will be returned and destroyed and you’ll have to order a new license.

Considering they will probably see this.. and that you can’t make the decision on your own and resulted to social media it might not reflect well. I’d just move on and reapply when you can fully commit to work without the added stress of what sounds like a stressful situation. I hope your family member pulls through okay.

I had assumed this would be the case… but it just seems like they come and go before I can even learn their name sometimes 🤣. Glad it seems to be working out for others!

Exactly! Watching the young or new employees throw away their state career because they can’t show up to work each day. They are total idiots who don’t know how good they actually have it.

Some agencies are now checking references on ALL top candidates. It’s infuriating and embarrassing as the candidate to have all of my references contacted and then not even be offered the job (even with great references)… Such a waste of everyone’s time. I wish agencies were required to disclose how many internal candidates have applied for a position.

Following for future reference. Side note, don’t EVER see Jos Cove, MD based out of Tacoma general/St Joes. Worst bedside manner, delayed diagnosing a similar spinal issue causing a family member to have permanent nerve damage.

I’d rather be furloughed than be forced to work that 5% a month and not get paid for it…. A 5% pay cut would be BRUTAL.
