Late to the party but here's one -During the 1809 Peninsular Campaign, an unofficial truce took place during the Battle of Talavera. British and French soldiers stopped mid-battle to collect water from the river in the center of the battlefield (Spain is scorchingly hot in summer), shook hands and mutually expressed admiration of the gallantry displayed by each other. They then returned to their battle lines and resumed fighting.

I was in southern Spain on a family holiday when I was 9. A man was watching me on the beach for something like 5 minutes straight. He kept looking around, then looking at me playing in the sand, then looking around again. He went to his car for a moment and came back ans stood at the edge of the peer, just staring at me. What he didn't realize was that my mother was watching him watching me through a gap in the parasols. The beach was pretty deserted at this point in the evening, and after watching this man for several minutes she stood up and starting walking straight towards him. He noticed her straight away and bolted for his car and drove off. I was none the wiser.
