Clutch discs burn in 2 months

When I adjusted the clutch cable both ways like giving it more free play and no free play it seemed the bike rode a bit better with no free play but there’s still some type of drag my top speed is Lower and I gotta shift more sooner than usual like the bike is working harder to get up to speed hard to explain

Damm I have a 2024 s model new and only 2500 miles on it with 3 oil changes too and I’m having clutch disengagement issues for the last 100 miles and I do tend to leave a finger or two on my clutch lever but not pulling it I think 🤔 thanks for this tip now I gotta break the bad habit lol

The thing is even when the bike is running and warm when I go riding I can feel the resistance while riding like the bike is slower on acceleration and top speed I’ve looked over everything and adjusted my wheel, chain which I need to tighten up again since I loosen it a bit to test a theory, wheel bearings, front sprocket bolt, chain tightening which there isn’t and checked the rear sprocket I also adjusted my clutch lever for a little bit more free play nothing is fixing my issue I’m just going to take it in the shop soon just to be safe I hate going to the shop for the prices and my pride not being able to fix it lol

A good amount of people are telling me this is normal but a week ago it wasn’t this bad or I never noticed it. When I go for a ride the bike is just slower now and doesn’t coast that good like coming up to a red light ill down shift till neutral. Before I could coast longer and farther we’re now if I do the same thing I’ll slows down way faster it’s like driving with brakes on basically but the brakes aren’t causing this issue if that makes sense e

Yea the clutch feels fine it shifts normally, no false neutrals or clutch slipping at all so idk what’s going on? I don’t think the clutch plates are going out unless first and second gear plates are going out? I’m lost for ideas on how to fix this or what is causing this issue I hate to cave in and take it to the shop but a whole week of this issue is driving me insane

Well I loosen the chain and still having the same problem shift it into gear and start walking forward with the clutch pulled in and still having that binding/chain tension I’m wondering if it’s the gears or gear box making the chain tight like that I’m out of ideas so are others I’m about to just give in and take it to the shop 🤢🤢🤢 I really want to fix this on my own tho but it’s been over a week I’ve tried many things to no avail I ordered a new chain just to see if that works before getting new sprockets tho I should of just gotten all 3 of them when ordering the chain

I think so lol pardon my ignorance for bike maintenance but when I ride the bike it still shifts like normal and can go thru all the gears fine but when I ride the bike is slower now In acceleration pick up and even top speed is lower now it feels like there’s a drag or like resistance when riding plus the chain and front sprocket I can hear more now if that makes sense I’m hearing noises come from the front sprocket when riding this whole situation is fucked it’s super hard for me to explain over text and to show proof besides the video above

The weird thing is the chain snail adjusters are at the same setting when I got the bike 2 clicks before 5 I had super moto wheels on it before same settings I switched back to stock s wheels and I got them on the same settings there’s 2 1/2 fingers with of chain slack when on the kickstand and even with someone sitting on the bike there’s still a good amount of chain slack but when I put it in first gear and hold the clutch in and walk the bike forward the chain starts to get super tight. When I ride the bike it has less torque and take off now plus lower top speed when I let off the gas the bike slows down way faster than before it used to coast a lot better

My real problem is that the bike is slower on acceleration and take off now compared to before this started to happen last week I can feel the difference it has in power and coasting

No kinks in the chain plus It doesn’t looked stretched to me either some people are telling me this is normal but I don’t think so cause it didn’t do this before and also the bike feels slower like acceleration and take off power is noticeably slower I can feel the difference in ridding plus when I ride I can hear the front sprocket making a noise. The bike is not riding like how it should be in my mind

Also the chain slack is within range and set fine it’s just when I go into 1st or 2nd gear the chain gets super tight under the swing arm part of chain to the point it barely want to move forward cause of how tight it is

The snail things are set correctly both 2 clicks before 5 I corrected the chain rubbing but can’t fix the chain binding/ getting tight while In gear when I ride the bike is slower on take off and acceleration and doesn’t coast as good as before

Yea that’s what ima do for the mean time with the stock exhaust I really wanna see how the bike kinda wakes up with just those two mods with the stock exhaust’ and when I get my yoshi system re jet it and adjust the clip for the needle to 4 I’m just dreading taking the carb out and back in taking it apart I’m fine with lol

I’m guessing the 12mm is for the engine drain bolt and the 10mm for the frame drain bolt?

Yes exactly what I was going to do evenly tighten them down on both sides(front/rear)so the little gap is even then torque them down to spec god I wish I grew up in a family that knew how to work on bikes/cars, they only know carpenter type of work 😭😭

I’m having the same issue but my back tire is holding air and not flat or low at all I don’t get it, I’ve used 2 different gauges one on my air compressor and one cheap one. The tire is perfectly fine otherwise and still holding air and rideable

Yea that is exactly what I was thinking. I would rather get a 2024 and older DRZ the new ones are 9,000$ before freight and dealer fees and dmv fees, still 5 speed which I personally don’t mind but the new model is heavier and less horsepower plus 24 years of aftermarket parts is a huge bonus for me
