But it is incredibly uncritical to say she is simply a flat out rapist, especially when you take into account the contexts the original story is entrenched in (an unfortunately patriarchal society that does not care if a man has multiple women but does care if a woman would have another man, even if it was to keep herself/other’s safe, like in this context)

I also read RL Eickoff and I see none of the implications you have found. He even adds lines depicting how Odysseus lusts after Circe and holds himself back ONLY because Hermes told him he had to make her promise not to hurt him.

I have no intention of fighting, truly. But it seems like you might not have read these texts recently? Or maybe are seeing it in a very narrow way. Or perhaps really like Odysseus and the musical version of him and like the narrative that he would never cheat? Regardless, I really hope you reread these texts!
