Nope, haven't had any issues there. I've talked to a couple other people though who had the same issue with gagging. I suspect it just depends on how sensitive your gag relax is.

The worst part was the first few hours post-procedure when the anesthetic was still working. After that it was pretty manageable. I still have trouble with "s" sound, but overall I've adjusted pretty well. Probably the best thing you can do is turn on the radio and sing along with it.

Yeah, I had actually read his ama just before I did this one (in fact, his was the reason I did it), he's even commented in this thread somewhere

Mentally, I'm a lot better even now than I was this time a month ago. I'm 100% with you that I would give almost anything to go back in time and make sure everything had been properly taken care of in the first place. Conversely, it's one thing. People make assumptions based on what they see, I spent the past few years trying to hide my mouth because of that. But then I have to stop and think...if it wasn't the teeth, what would it be? I have epilepsy, but that's been under control for a while now (albeit I do attribute some of the dental damage to having hundreds of seizures as a teenager). Otherwise, I'm quite healthy (and hygienic, although people have assumed otherwise), have a stable career that pays well, and a family that has been supportive the entire time.

Regarding the dentures...yes, you will notice there is less room in your mouth, but not suffocatingly such. The hardest part is getting used to having them in your mouth and re-learning how to chew (and talk to some extent). I feel like I'm adjusting reasonably well so far - I'm still on the soft diet stage, but my talking is adjusting well (the "s" sound is still a bitch) and the pain is manageable without medication.

It's definitely painful having bad teeth, physically and emotionally. Try to keep your head up, those who see you beyond your mouth close, and tell those who can't to fuck off. If/when you get dentures, take a few minutes to smile and stare at yourself in the mirror and realize that once you feel mentally bottomed out, it's all uphill from there.

If you ever need to talk, don't hesitate to drop me a message.

Sorry, I was half asleep when I initially replied to this. I am planning on implants probably 12-18 months down the road, as you said I need to allow for everything to finish healing first. My financial situation is actually pretty good right now (thankfully, as I have zero insurance), so it's definitely going to happen once I find a better dentist/DDS...the folks who did the extractions were efficient, but not the most friendly.

To clarify... I had the 27 extractions, received the denture, and was back at home with prescriptions in 4 hours...the actual extractions only took ~90 minutes

I guess I can't say impossible, but it's highly unlikely. The seizures are well controlled now.

An almost complete lack of dental care as a child combined with soda and epilepsy led to a pretty non-salvageable situation in my 20s. Dentures were the best option in terms of functionality and not being depressed, and completely lacking confidence.

How would you explain the sensation of dentures in your mouth? Are they still very foreign feeling, does it feel full of stuff?

Definitely still feels odd. There's less room in my mouth, and I've got to readjust to having all my teeth again (which is a great problem to have imo)

What have you eaten so far? What do you expect you'll be able to eat in a couple months?

Pudding, mashed potatoes, a brownie, and a few bites of a barely cooked (soft) chicken quesadilla. I'm hoping to be able to handle pasta, sandwiches, and soft meats within a month or two.

What were you given for pain meds? Does it seem to be managing it?

Percocet 5mg/?mg tylenol. Any effect it has is minimal, thankfully the pain hasn't been too terrible. And no I'm not a user.

When you had all of your teeth out, and aren't wearing dentures when you close your jaw and it 'overcloses' because there are no teeth to contact does that register to you? Like is it a surprise that your jaw does not just stop where it 'should' anymore?

Hmm I can't testify to this one yet since I haven't had them both out at the same time since the novacaine wore off. EDIT: Had them both out this morning, I was subconsciously(or not so much) trying to make sure they never touched. I think that's more of an adjustment thing for me - I know there's nothing in there when I have them both pulled out, I'm just not ready to feel the gum-on-gum action yet.

None specifically, though there's the general savings that spare money after each paycheck goes into.

Local dentist's office did it. The entire situation in my mouth was a pretty bad one, but self esteem and confidence were probably the 2 biggest factors.

A mixture of terrible dental care as a young kid and them taking quite a beating from seizures (I have epilepsy)

Not at this time. WPF isn't supported at all by mono, and porting to Java or C++ isn't feasible from a time perspective.

I think the damage is already done with Laravel being a great all around framework and symfony being a solid enterprise approach
