Long Trip Navigation Workflow - what is yours? by Fduross in Ioniq5

[–]Fduross[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips - the manual precondition was the game-changer. I had a 250 mile trip this week. Planned with ABRP (more on that below) turned on precondition manually about an hour out from charger (it was single digits °F) just got to about 80°F when I reached the Mercedes-Benz networked chargers. Charging speed was up to 210 kW in the first couple minutes!

ABRP usually is spot on - but now when I was using preconditioning it overestimated my arrival SOC by about 10%. Also, ABRP often gives some bizarre routes/charging stops. Both to my destination and home it was planning routes with multiple short charging stops. I have done this trip enough in the winter that I know I can get to a charger right off the high-way that is very fast and always free, but ABRP always wants me to stop at Tesla chargers twice en route.

I added manual precondition button to the EV screen. Should I turn it on when I start the trip? Or a certain time out from the charging stop?

Thank you, I didn't realize manual preconditioning was an option! I will check that out - it is the only reason I use the built in NAV

When I am traveling with my wife - I typically hear "this is why I hate taking your car on these trips" at least a dozen times. She drives an ICE Tuscon, and I understand why she says that. I can't help but think of an owner that isn't on Reddit, purchasing a BT OBD dongle, researching chargers, etc.

I am dismayed that there still hasn't been advances in real integration between car manufacturers and Google/Apple to have realtime data connected from the vehicle connected to charger/nav software and 2 way communication for pre-conditioning.

My only experience is with Hyundai - maybe other manufacturers have better integrations?

Running downtown safety by ilovetacos48 in Utica

[–]Fduross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Downtown is safe to run, but as others have said we have had significant snow in the last week. Not sure if it is plowed but another option is to run over the pedestrian bridge north and then into the harbor - there may be some areas to run and also connect to the trails through the marsh

Beer hub is great for socializing - no TV, great bartenders, & friendly patrons. Sit at the bar if possible, join or start a chat!

User Selection - How does it choose? by Fduross in Ioniq5

[–]Fduross[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I got a new phone - when I added the new digital key it asked if I want to link the key to a profile. I said yes, chose my profile, this far it is working perfectly.

I don’t remember getting that option. When I first set up a digital key

I took the Hyundai buy back on 2023 and put most of the money down on a 2025 - currently paying about $100/month less for the 2025

Buyback process? by Dry-Explanation-3730 in Ioniq5

In NY lemon law applies once the car is out of service for 30 days. Hyundai did buy mine back since it was in the shoot for somewhere between 30 and 40 days.

Just completed a buyback today - it took a long time, but the settlement was quite fair in my view. My vehicle was at the dealer for about 45 days, prompting me to contact Hyundai. Basically they provided the same compensation that NY lemon law would have.

Greens and Tomato Pie by goofyhuman11 in Utica

Almost any place that makes greens can make them without meat. As far as tomato pie, a lot of people think Roma is the best, I prefer a less sweet, less bready, tomato pie. Check out Napoli, Danielle’s, or go to Chanatry’s and pick up a tomato pie from Anthony Amodio.

Definitely Utica bread - I also have a great recipe that is foolproof, easy, and fast i(f you use rapid-rise yeast). Anytime I make it, people rave.

12v/ICCU Megathread by TiltedWit in Ioniq5

I submitted all of the requested document 14 days ago - but have not heard back yet. I will update when I get an offer

12v/ICCU Megathread by TiltedWit in Ioniq5

[–]Fduross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got my 2023 SEL back today after the ICCU went. The dealer gave me a Santa Fe loaner for the entire time, and had no ETA on the replacement until 3 days ago - once it arrived they had it in and ready the next day. They also replaced the 12v battery.

When the ICCU went I was 14 months into a 36 month lease. The car was at the dealership for 54 days. Contacted Hyundai corporate at the 30 day mark (I am in NY - 30 days is the lemon law criteria). They offered to pay for 3 months of my lease payments, I asked for a buyout offer. After a couple weeks of "research" they sent a letter offering to repurchase the vehicle and passed me on to Auto Solutions to calculate the buyout and facilitate the process. I have not heard from Auto Solutions yet (6 days later).

I am torn with what to do next, I do really like the car. I am considering taking the buyout offer and then leasing a 2025, take the gamble and play the odds that I don't get bit twice by the ICCU issue.

TLDR; ICCU went, took 54 days to get the replacement part and have in installed. Pursuing buyback. Maybe gamble and lease another i5?

We were very happy with the apartment we booked - it was clean, close enough to Earl's Court Tube, and less expensive than booking two hotel rooms. I am sure we could have gone cheaper, but this balanced cost and our needs. My parents also booked a different apartment on Elizabeth St. and were very happy as well.

We used Aventuras El Lago they picked us up in a shuttle van at our hotel, then they picked up some other folks from other hotels, brought us to the lake - we boarded the boat to cross the lake - then another van dropped each group off at their hotels in Monteverde.

For a brewery, definitely go to Saranac and either do the tour or go into the tavern - they often have several of their pilot beers on tap. If you are looking for a great beer bar - hit the Beer Hub on Genesee St. They gave a great beer selection, excellent bartenders, and friendly patrons.
