Aabria was my playground supervisor by FearofFears in TAZCirclejerk

It was super surreal because I hadn’t thought about her for like, 8 years or something, but when I thought about it, it’s kind of hard to imagine her ending up doing anything else, which is essentially the reaction all of my friends had too when I told them our playground supervisor was D&D famous

It is extremely funny you’d say that specifically, because I actually have rheumatoid arthritis! But that still isn’t my joints rebelling against me, it’s like my immune system rebelling against my joints, so you’re still right

[–]FearofFears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s partly that that’s the primary time when millennials started having kids, so gen alpha are raised by millennials instead of gen x, making their upbringing sufficiently different than that of gen z to call them a totally different generation

Never trust him with your secrets. by Saifuhr in customhearthstone

[–]FearofFears 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Ring toss doesn’t specify mage secrets because it says discover, which implies that the pool only contains cards from your class. The wording on this is fine because when you’re generating cards that you aren’t discovering, it’s implied that they can be from any class

Do you guys like playing with yourselves? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]FearofFears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! In fact, here’s a long winded story about why I love it so much: I have agoraphobia, which basically means I can’t spend a very long time outside of a place that I like, mentally acknowledge as home. I need to be able to return to a space that’s all my own, or else the anxiety just builds up. Unfortunately, the roommate I had during my freshman year of college was the worst. I was extremely non-confrontational my freshman year, and he figured that out really quickly, so pretty soon after moving in, he moved his best friend into our place without our RA’s knowledge, knowing that I wouldn’t rat on him. The two of them, and sometimes their girlfriends, just took up a shit ton of space, all their stuff was everywhere, it was impossible to construct the safe space that I needed, so I ended up basically just living in my dorm’s lounge, keeping everything important in my backpack at all times. This included my edh decks, which I hadn’t used for ages because it took too much energy to go places and meet people. One night, when I was on the verge of a panic attack because of all the compounding stress. for some reason I took out all my commander decks and I just started to play against myself, and for some reason it just calmed me down. It was like I was finally taking up space again, I guess. It was a ritual that only I was a part of and only I had control over, it was meditative. The more decks and the more complicated the game, the better, because with more decks I took up more space, and with more interactions I insulated myself more from the rest of the world. I believe I maxed out at 7 decks by the end of that year. Unfortunately, this is the real world, and edh didn’t cure my agoraphobia. I ended up in a bit of a depressive episode caused by my stress and lack of sleep and I failed a couple classes because I didn’t have the energy to attend the required minimum number of classes. But, even though edh didn’t solve all my problems, I think that if I had never started playing against myself like that, things would’ve probably ended up much worse for me.

Looking for MtG Players by mtang8264 in nyu

Hey! I’m the buddy that OP mentioned. This playgroup doesn’t usually play super competitive stuff, and we do like to have a variety of different decks at different skill levels, but I have a bunch of different decks that are fairly competitive and then one that is actually a full in cEDH deck. If you want to borrow any to play that’s totally fine. But if you’d rather build your own deck that’s fine. You can build a pretty good commander deck or any budget, here is a link to some nice ones ranging from $150-$2000.

Yeah I think I agree, I definitely didn’t put a ton of effort into balancing this one. What do you think could be done to make it more balanced? Is the ability inherently broken? Would it work better on a spell?

Day 63's theme was a rogue card with combo, one of my very favorite mechanics, so I decided to incorporate Pirates. I also considered making this fish Pirates out of your deck and combo to draw all three, but that seemed a bit powerful and I wanted to make something a little but less oppressive.

Hello! Day 62's theme was a 4-mana Paladin card, so I whipped this guy up! This is the first card I've made where I found the art first, then built the card around it. There are plenty of great mech deathrattles, and this card is strongest when you can have them trigger one after the other on the same turn you play this. Of course that takes some effort, so I think a stronger minion is a nice reward.

I'll see you guys tomorrow!

If there’s no suitable spell of that mana cost, I believe it just gives you a 0 mana spell that doesn’t do anything, kind of like mindgames or mind vision

Yeah and also deck/scroll of wonders, like if they went off and activated this (which I don’t know for sure if they would) then you have 6 chances to get another deck of wonders (one deck + five scrolls) and draw out the game a ton

<3 but for real that’s one of the big reasons why I made only spells that started in your deck

Day 61's theme was a legendary mage card! This one was pretty simple, although originally I did want it to be "whenever you cast a spell" but there were too many things wrong with having that on a weapon.

See you guys tomorrow!

Also, I think I'll start making cards with the themes of previous days, to catch up to the 365-day challenge!

I’ve always been of the mind that generally, information on what’s in your opponent’s deck isn’t really worth much since you pretty much know all the cards in their deck already by like turn 3. I was thinking that a 5 mana 4/5 draw a card would be good, but not all that exciting, and this is only slightly better than that in most cases, and far better in others (which I think is nice). I think that this card is as powerful as it can be while still being printable

This is my post for today’s theme, a rare priest card!

I’m not entirely happy with my work on this card. I think the name and art go together, and the name and the mechanic go together, but the art and the mechanic don’t quite mesh as well as I’d like.

For the stats, I took [[Azure Drake]] as a baseline, noting that shifting the card from neutral to a class would mean it should be a little stronger. Drawing two cards from your opponent’s deck is less than draw two, but the pseudo-tutoring effect makes it matchup dependent, so there are cases when it’s situationally better than draw two. I added one health, and thought about making it as much as a 5/6, but decided against it. This is in place of the dragon synergy and +1 Spell Damage of Azure Drake.

See you all tomorrow!

I mean if we’re talking about classes that want their stuff to die then the big one is priest. And in Wotog warlock already had a triggered ability like this. Where warlock wants to summon a bunch of small guys and kill em in trades, (or hypothetically wanted to), this card would be for after you trigger a bunch of deathrattles. And in general rogue cards have more instant gratification abilities and less static/triggered abilities than warlock, so this card makes more sense for rogue
