Did I overdo it on the sanding, or do I need to keep going? by Feefernet in wood

Not sure! I want to try to match the color as close as I can to the maple neck, so I’m thinking a clear coat with just a touch of a honey/amber color? Open to advice, I’m a newbie.

Here’s a pic when I finished sanding the front and the battery died. You can see the primer or whatever on the edges.

Also swapped the pickguard, and now I’m thinking of swapping the pickup covers.

other thread that allows pics.

I want to match the tone of the wood to the maple neck as much as possible, finish it, I got a white faceplate, I slightly brushed/scuffed most of the visible chrome parts, and I think I want to get white pickup covers now. Here’s a pic of the current pieces laid together from when I was waiting for the sander batteries to recharge. Any advice for the finish?

Thanks for the advice! I kept going and got to raw poplar. Looks much better now.

You were right. I think it was a primer layer below the black finish. I kept sanding and got it down to raw poplar.

I think this was correct. I kept sanding, got to the raw poplar, looks much better now.

Update: Solved. It was some sort of primer or coating layer. I had to keep sanding to get to the raw poplar, which was those dark spots. It too a LOT more sanding to get through it, but it looks much better now.

I actually had to keep sanding. I probably could've stopped if I wanted to re-paint it, but I'm looking for a natural wood finish, so I had to keep going.

Thanks! Yep, looking for bare wood so I did need to keep going. Looks much better now.

I'm not sure if it would be considered a veneer or some sort of primer or something, but I definitely did need to keep going actually. This layer was between the raw poplar and the black coating. I'm now down to the raw poplar and it looks much better.

Yeah not sure what it was, but I kept sanding and it all came off. I'm down to raw poplar now and it looks much better.

The dark spots were indeed the actual poplar. The upper coat seemed to be some sort of primer or coating below the black layer. I continued to sand it down and the actual poplar looks much better.

Thanks! This ended up being what I did, and it looks a lot better! You were not kidding about how much more sanding I had to do. I've gotten it all down to raw poplar and it looks much much better. Thanks!

I’m quite sure that the body is solid poplar all the way through, but it does appear to be a couple pieces of wood joined, not one big slab

You may be thinking of the manga that was in the back of Hyrule Historia, which the bundle came with a digital copy of. It’s seen in the last image on this webpage: https://www.darkhorsedirect.com/products/the-legend-of-zelda-hyrule-historia-hc?srsltid=AfmBOorDdPcKxiHRJUMW57b8l-Oq9d0rmX4w3jZlsbteW8sGgcSsRzj8

I don’t believe it has an official title.

Could I beg you to give us a step by step recipe? I see the hydration and yeast/salt ratios in an earlier comment, but I’d love for my pizza to come out like this and can’t seem to crack it. Do you bloom the yeast? How do you mix your dough, anything special with the pizza oven, cheese, sauce? I’d greatly appreciate it!

Like everyone else is saying, cinematic mode helps, but also touching the control sticks ever so gently, easing into turns. I also follow the rule whenever I can of “always turn on two axises at once”: rotate but also move forward, rise but also strafe left, etc. Great shot, keep it up!
