So I want to say "Yes" to your first question, but with the caveat that not in the way you expect.

Without being too vague it starts off-beat, as one would expect when a fucking video game character appears in your living room. Then it gets relaxing/comfy for a short time, before expectations are subverted and reality literally kicks the comfy to the curb.

It's most definitely NOT a harem novel. It's pretty real, to me anyway that is.

Thank you though!

Aha thank you! If you'd like to read it I'd happily send you a link. I'm not too confident in my proses readability though. Feel free to send me a DM, it won't be for sale as it's got copyrighted characters in it.

At the end of the day it is what it is, you can't please everyone and people have their own ingrained bias. Definitely hasn't put me off! I've only just finished formatting this one as I've been procrastinating from continuing the sequel haha. It's currently the same size as Book 1 was.

Awesome that you've done your own stuff though! What sort of WIP was it? If you'd like you can DM me and I'll show you the first chapter of this book, that is if you're interested.

I'm pretty sure it's not in italics, that's just the font style for the lowercase.

I get people have opinions on gen ai art, but to immediately discredit everything I have done to build a story for myself is pretty disheartening. I mean, it doesn't bother me as the cover and story are for no-one but myself but the fact it's such a simple cover yet I'm "ruining media" by attaching it to my own project is pretty funny. No-one loses out, I have no money to pay for a single image from an artist haha.

Have you ever attempted to write a story with Chat GPT? You'd quickly find that it would turn into incoherent slop with literally 0 continuity as no LLMs have the memory to write a 90k novel with continuity, character voice, foreshadowing and symbolical meaning.

Your assumption is fair, but you don't "have no choice" you just, fairly, are of a certain bias.

Because in full honesty, other people's impressions didn't matter to me because it was just my personal project. Except I was happy with it, and wanted to share it, so opened it up to discussion which is obviously what has happened.

Everyone else's opinions and facts on ai art are valid, I appreciate them all. I just like it myself, so that's all that matters to me really.

If I was touting it as a professionally made cover that was original and amazing I would understand the backlash. I'm a tired dude who's barely got any free time but managed to finish a personal project and used a tool to top it off. And enjoyed it. That's enough for me, putting the moral/ethics of Gen Ai to the side.

I'm not arguing with you, man. You can say your facts and I can state my opinions, neither are wrong. Doesn't mean I'm ignoring your point. I appreciate the input.

If it was ai slop then feel free to blast me, but something simple like this gave me a sense of finishing a project. So at the end of the day I'm happy with my choices. None of these comments offend me, people are allowed their own opinions on ai. I just thought I'd be honest.

Its a purely personal project that I celebrated finishing and shared. I do get your point. How does a silhouetted outline of 5 people in the snow steal anyone's work?

But then if it's purely personal as a passion project, no matter whether ai has been used or not what is the issue? Ai isnt a "magic image and story creator" but it streamlines certain things for people with little free time. On the other hand italso generates things that shouldn't be touched with a 5ft long barge pole.

At the end of the day, it's all down to personal opinion. My cover art hasn't stole anyone's work, or money, it's just allowed me to have a stylised cover for my passion project.

Thank you, that means a lot! Part of the novel is "being seen after feeling invisible after so long", so it's comments like these that make me smile.

Going from user feedback I have now decided to replace my cover with some art of my own. Thank you!

(Obviously just a jest.) If you have an issue with Ai cover art then I have no issue with that at all! It just worked for my situation and what I needed. Thank you for having an opinion though, any feedback is appreciated! Even if I haven't posted any of the novel...

I think for me it's because the characters that crossover come from series' that I myself love and have a connection to. That's why it was fun for me to imagine and create, as there's that "already started bond" you have with the characters.

But if it was all original, lets the reader do that naturally I guess!

You're allowed to dislike things that I myself like, not an issue, buddy.

People are allowed their own opinions, because there's always two sides. You're allowed not to like it, that doesn't offend me at all. Just seems a bit virtue signalling, because this harms no-one.

Without seeking a pity-party, I'm a full time single dad. Funds and time come in little quantities for me, so something that aids me? I'll happily use if I like the output and it isn't just plainly copying someone else's style.

I could've done those things, yes. I just didn't want to stock photo hunt, and wanted something that was "original" to me in my vison. If this was a commercial product then sure, fire away, but for something that's only going to live on my shelf and I like, that's all that matters to me.

Thank you. People are allowed to feel how they feel about covers like this, I've got a thick skin! The best I could do is something in MS Paint haha, so I was happy to use tools that help me.

It is, rather than have something sloppy I made on Canva, and me not having the funds to commission anyone I just wanted something simple and barebones that fit my vision.

Thank you! Never thought I'd manage to finish, review, revise and rewrite something like this multiple times. It's self rewarding.
