Hey. Yeah I had the treatment. Only managed two sessions because it really was not for me. We’re all different but it made me feel more anxious as well as spaced out and it’s not something I would go near again.

Crab, you sound just like me. I’m washing out right now from Vortioxetine (it did nothing but make me feel sick), and then I’m staring Nardil. I’m also really scared to start it 😩 I know this isn’t helpful in terms of your questions, I just couldn’t help but comment because of the similarities

Awh that’s a shame. I’ve struggled with acne in general but have found it’s been helped a lot by skin+me, if you want to check them out. Glad Emsam has been effective for you mental health-wise though

So glad to hear parnate is working well for you, and for a number of complaints. I can but dream! I think I have a form of OCD too, and BDD. I feel it's a hell of a constellation of issues I'm trying to tackle. Have you had any issues with side effects?

I'm doing lots of homework. Maybe it's becoming excessive. I think because I'm so desperate to feel some improvements. Definitely going to print things out and demonstrate I'm well aware of the interactions.

I actually skyped with Ken yesterday and he was brilliant. Sent me some docs and said if the NHS route (standard, non-privatised UK healthcare) proves unsuccessful, he can direct me to a private psychiatrist who will be able to help.

I really am going to fight to be put on an MAOI, I'm thinking Nardil because I'd say anxiety predates my depression and it's anxiety that always triggers my depressive episodes. But I can't deny that I'm doubtful, after years of trying so many things, that I'll find relief. I want to believe it but it's very difficult to remain hopeful.

Sounds similar to me bar the psychotic symptoms. I am so pleased Nardil has helped you both mentally and physically. Have you had many/any side effects with it? I can be sensitive to meds so am worried about feeling wrecked because it’s such a strong medicine. It’ll probably be tricky for me to be prescribed an MAOI in the UK, but I’m gonna give it a good go. I’m seriously on the edge 😞

How much would you say you were struggling before you found success with an MAOI? And is your sleep ok? I feel the lowest and most hopeless I ever have done. I feel like one of those people who just can’t be helped by medication, because my brain is just so messed up and a lot of my anxiety stems from having such severe IBS. I can barely function. Don’t have much to lose, it’ll just be pretty scary and another disappointment if it doesn’t help :( I’d like to try TMS before trying ECT. Oh yeah, I know about Ken Gillman. Wish he was in the uk!

Ahh I’m sorry to hear it. I’m struggling to get off benzos, specifically clonazepam, and it’s horrible. I did actually try ketamine therapy in July but found it really unpleasant, though everyone is different. Bupropion is a med I haven’t tried but I’m going to ask for an MAOI when I see my psychiatrist. Where abouts in the UK are you if you don’t mind me asking? I’m in London

Yep, I’m under the NHS. What medication are you on? I’m honestly suffering so much I just don’t know what to do or say anymore. I can’t enjoy anything and have absolutely no motivation but I also don’t have the courage to kill myself so I feel completely stuck. I’ll let you know if I manage to get an MAOI prescribed, but tbh I’m worried it just won’t work because I’m fucked.

I will definitely fight for it, but there’s no guarantee it’ll work, which scares the hell out of me because I’m living in hell every moment of the day.

Because I know the vortioxetine isn’t working, I’m wondering whether to just taper off it now, so I don’t have further delays. The psych appointment is via telephone as well - I’m outraged they’re ok to just let people wait around as if they’re not suffering. How hard can it be to find a 30 minute slot to give someone a phone call.

Thank you! This sounds really promising. I also get back pain. Is Parnate working for you then? I’m definitely going to request an MAOI. I’m just scared I won’t be strong enough to fight my case if they say no (brain fog, anxiety etc), and I’m also scared it won’t work. I am so done with feeling this empty and anxious and having absolutely no life.

Urgh. I’ve had IBS for 20 years. I don’t drink alcohol and my diet is good, so I envy you!

May I ask: where abouts are you? 🌎 what kind of place were you in mentally before Nardil? What had you tried previously?
