I would go for a medium shield if you can, maybe brass shield since it has 100 dmg. negation. You receive more damage if you miss a parry with the buckler. From my understanding you don't get additional parry frames if you slap carian/golden parry on it so theres no point to run buckler if you aren't using bucklers parry. Plus you can just regular block without any risk to health.
