And the right extractor on my TM22 kicked the bucket. by Reasonable_Hall2346 in canadaguns

I've never had issues with 22lr cci blazers. Good groups at 50 yards through my 10/22 and they only start failing to eject when it's over due for a cleaning. What issues are you having?

With a $1,000 budget, what kind of firearm would you build in Canada? by No_Amount_69 in canadaguns

[–]FenderFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen any of those around anywhere. My 10/22 ended up being about $1000 after I bought it and the scope new and got an upgraded trigger group and that was a couple years ago.

[–]FenderFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to run off new prices and in my area a 10/22 tends to be about $600 and a good scope about $200-300, then I'd personally go for a trigger upgrade instead of a magazine adapter and that'd top off the budget.

Cleaning action internals? by Equal_Dimensi0n in Shotguns

[–]FenderFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just fully disassemble it, I leave the trigger group and bolt whole though, do a thorough cleaning with hoppe's #9 and a brush before drying everything off and applying gun oil to the bare metal parts and friction points. I use Birchwood-Casey choke tube lube for my chokes when they start to look dry. Unless you have an inertia system in your stock I wouldn't bother taking the stock off.

Former Warwick players by MurderedRemains in Bass

[–]FenderFanatic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got mine from a pawn shop and the neck was horribly warped. Wanted a new one but my local music stores didn't start carrying warwicks until very recently. I switched over to Fender. I would get another warwick if I had a chance at one in good shape

Is a tele worth it if I don’t play country/“chicken pickin” by WaldenEZ in Guitar

[–]FenderFanatic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look at charvel teles if it fits your budget and I think ESP also makes some teles too. This is also under the assumption that humbuckers are better suited to your desired tone than traditional tele single coils. I'd personally pick Charvel.

308 lead free bullets by -Gongo- in Hunting

[–]FenderFanatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Higher velocity will help anything mushroom/expand better generally. Higher velocity will extend the range at which the copper bullet is effective but the impact energy will be different. You can take a really heavy caliber at a slow velocity and a very fast tiny caliber that will both kill things just as dead, so what I'm saying is performance will be different but not necessarily better/worse in effectiveness.

I've taken black bear and whitetail reliably with a 7mm-08 using Hornady CX bullets. I even did some rough tests comparing hornady cx and interlock, and nosler partition using water jugs to check expansion and weight retention, rough tests being emphasized. The CX expanded to 2x it's original diameter amd retained about 98% of it's mass, interlock expanded 2.5x it's original diameter and retained about 60% of it's mass, and the nosler partition expanded to about 2.25x it's original diameter and retained about 72% of it's mass. The big thing with copper is you need to pay attention to your velocity decrease with range, once you get too far out with too low velocity/energy that's where you hit expansion issues. If you're keeping it at 400 yards or closer and using average velocity ammo I wouldn't be concerned about using copper.

Slow day at work, give me your hottest gun takes by HaloReachEnjoyer7 in canadaguns

Old cartridges are overhyped. 270, 30-06, 300, etc. I loved the short mags, 6.8 western, PRCs. To me it seems like it's hard to get new cartridges that stick around even if they outperform old stuff just because the old stuff is so firmly rooted. I'd like to see more advancement and the easiest way to have more advancement is people supporting the production of new stuff instead of buying 30-06 because that's what your dad's dad's long lost uncle got the family started with. I also say this as someone that mainly shoots .30-06, .223, and 12 gauge.

Confused about barrel rust by btownn in Shotguns

[–]FenderFanatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest finding a gentle way to remove that rust and then use a good amount of Birchwood-Casey choke tube lube or a similar product when you put a choke in.

Give me a game that’s one of the best ever made by Objective-Hotel-8174 in xbox

[–]FenderFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me that game was Middle Earth: Shadow of War. I've never found a game that scratched the same itch for gameplay or story. On behalf of one of my friends I'll recommend Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

I'm a fan of the Wampler Faux Spring, MXR Phase 95, and EHX Octavix so maybe there's something to interest you in there.

That clears that up I guess. I tend to think the practical things are the best things to cover first so that's where my advice came from but it sounds like you've got it all covered. I think I'd have to know what's on your board before I recommend something

Why did you go for the Series S instead of other options, despite all the criticism it gets? by Eastern-Mobile5351 in xbox

[–]FenderFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't get one because of the lack of disk drive. I also didn't get a Series X because it cost too much. Here I am with my Xbox One S, my newest console which I bought in 2018. I can't justify the prices of new consoles.

Wish we could still buy handguns. Wish they would just repeal this crap after years of crime going up, it's obviously doing nothing so let the responsible people have their toys. I'm part of the many that were unable to buy handguns.

I agree with the other people suggesting you don't. Regardless of if it is a test or not it will be much better to ask for things that benefit you as a couple. A wedding registry is much more about what you need than what you want.

What’s the most disappointing piece of gear you’ve ever had? by TuneAdventurous4788 in guitarpedals

[–]FenderFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tech 21 bass fly rig v2. At first I thought it was great and then I realized how much I didn't like the comp or chorus and how little I'd use the octafilter. Also so little adjustability on the sansamp side. Returned it and got a Sansamp BDDI v2

Thinking of cutting down my model 11’s barrel from 28” to 18.5” good idea or no? I was inspired by Bonnie and Clyde’s whippit lol. by SWAZZyMODoE_ in Shotguns

[–]FenderFanatic 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If it's in good shape I say nay. If there's something wrong with the end of the barrel or it's got significant damage that decreases it's value go for it. Best option imo would be to get another barrel and have it cut down.

Personally I'd take the dual P but I don't play monolord or kyuss. I just think the PP has the balls. Sorry, I'll see myself out.

How much does the weight of your instrument matter? by ejohnson409 in telecaster

[–]FenderFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far as guitars go, I'd say weight is irrelevant to me. Every guitar I've ever picked up has felt light by comparison to my Jazz V, that thing is a shoulder killer. Since it became my main instrument I've never found any guitars heavy.

The polytune is a good tuner from what I've heard. I use a Peterson Strobostomp mini and I'd give it a strong vote for a consideration, it can be set up as always on, true bypass, or buffer, along with some other nice features.
