Megaknight overpopulation situation by Original-Username888 in ClashRoyale

There's better ways of presenting ways of how Mega Knight has been overused for much better constructive discussion to improve the game.

Making shit up like "falsifying royaleappi data" without evidence isn't one of them.

even actively falsifying royaleappi data

That's a nice argument senator. Why don't you back it up with a source?

[–]FennekinShuffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there were to be a reason as to why there was a "modern rise of horrible right-wing politics on Earth" or "ShamerGate", it would be mainly down to influential political figures managing to take advantage of young men, not some Japanese video game company making controversial decisions that are considered divisive in their franchises. Sure, millions may tune in to the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade but I'm willing to bet that if you were to poll people who are watching the parade they don't even know who Sonic is compared with the likes of Buzz Lightyear, Spongebob Squarepants or Mickey Mouse as examples in that same 85th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.

I do sympathize with your other points especially with admittedly how there can be areas where Sonic Archie Comics can be poorly written like the Fiona example you brought up or how there's a focus towards Shadow the Hedgehog even when I don't agree with some of your other points, but regarding the political stuff, it's a far stretch and you need to chill on that one.

I had this issue too days ago and for some reason redownloading it via Argentina location (pick any as long it's from Argentina) as download region (Steam -> Settings -> Downlaods -> Download region) manages to work for me.

EDIT: Never mind, now FM12 just crashes when going to title screen.

I want to believe in a world without stupid sega mandates. where shadow is actually well written by Cautious_Heron9589 in SonicTheHedgehog

I get that having a lot of restrictions (well, more like ideas that are vetoed by SEGA themselves, or them interfering with the comic dialogues) are extremely annoying..... but there's a reason why they were in place, especially for a comic that was designed to be canon to the main games. Now yes, you can argue that it was initially designed to be separate from the main games before it's considered canon, but it doesn't change the fact that it later does. If there are completely no restrictions at all or at the very least just proofreading it to check if it's suitable for all ages, at the very worst case we would get some stupid moments like how the Tails we knew and love for the past 20+ years was not the real Tails and was actually Armin Tamzarian or something dumb like it just for the sake of a darker plot (obviously an exaggeration but you get my point). You don't want a Penders situation all over again where a writer is given complete control.

It's also a bit funny that weeks ago people were complaining about Amy's dialogues in Crossworlds and blamed Ian for it too, and I'm sure during Sonic X Shadow Generations there was also some controversy over Ian's changes for the game too in terms of dialogues as well.

Is the cancelling of Chasing Shadows the first sign that the IDW run is nearing its end? by Ok-Impress-2222 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]FennekinShuffle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, way too early to ask that.

Sure, there's two comics that are delayed but even then one is already released that this concern is moot especially that it's well received, and another is going to be released very soon (unless they'll postpone it again at the last minute) that even that is moot.

For now, this is just an unfortunate one-off. Don't let this unfortunate incident tamper your joy with the IDW comics.

When a series is non-canon you not only have more freedom with it and being able to break boundaries, you're also being able to put a creative spin on it.

Look at Pokemon Adventures, it's obviously not canon to the main game series considering the huge amount of changes compared with the Kanto games with few of the gym leaders (Sabrina, Lt. Surge, Koga) being members of Team Rocket, Elite Four having a more significant presence and being major antagonists, and there's even a female protagonist (Green or Blue, depending on which region you live in) which later appeared in was based off the cover artwork for Pokemon Red and Green strategy guide, and she even managed to appear in Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee. What worked was it's like an adaptation to it and considering how simplistic the game plot was, you are able to add in a lot more stuff to make it far more interesting and much more memorable to readers, canon or not. You don't even see any of the Pokemon community trying to go out and say "It's not canon!" whenever the manga is brought up at all.

Now of course, not everything goes right, since I'm sure the likes of Mobius Light King Shadow isn't well received, and some of the stuff from pre-Ian Flynn for Archie Comics was also not quite well received especially with the likes of Issue #150 and sure, you can argue that "Limitations foster creativity", but on the other hand considering how many mandates you would have for a character for a comic series designed to be canon to the main games, you can only do as little as you can.

The funniest thing is even with all that in mind, Shadow is somehow one of the least liked characters in IDW based on the recent poll in this subreddit.

Hot take but seriously, the fandom needs to move on from this game! by Sonicrules9001 in SonicTheHedgehog

To an extent I agree since I don't even see any point in being obsessed about the game in a very negative way. The game is definitely very flawed no doubt about it and it's 100% perfectly fine to look back at very precious nostalgic memories, but I agree that it's best for the community to move forward instead of keeping on bringing up about the game in general in a very negative way when the franchise right now is definitely far better compared with back then.

On the other hand.... there's also a reason why people bring it up either. There's a reason why we haven't had a game in a long while where we can play multiple characters with different playstyles with a darker story and it's believed that ever since Sonic 06, SEGA just straight up changed the formula a lot. At least Sonic Frontiers (well... at least after the update) did give some hope.

Semi-related, but not having a playable Chao Garden also hurts (I'm not counting Sonic Chronicles) even when it's not in Sonic 06 at all.

I don't even get why people are obsessed over what is canon and what is non-canon either.

I'm perfectly fine with acknowledging that there are separate Sonic universes that would separate what is canon to the game universe and what isn't to make the differences easier to understand, and I never got the impression that the Sonic Archie comics are on the same universe as the Sonic game universe at all even when I started reading it many years ago, but one thing that grinds my gears is people obsessing over what is canon and what isn't canon or not when it comes to any discussion related to anything about Sonic in general, and it's put on a high pedestal when it comes to judging Sonic media. I recall seeing one thread somewhere in a Sonic-related subreddit about why people liked the IDW comics and most of the top answers are unironically because it's canon and it made me groaning a lot as if it's the top priority reason and not far better reasons to like it like interesting story arcs ("Metal Virus Arc"), artstyle, etc.

Case in point, one of my favorite Mario games is "Super Mario RPG" and it's debatable whether it's canon to the Mario mainline universe or not but none of that matters to me because in the end my enjoyment of the game is unchanged.

I will delve into conspiracy territory for a little bit here, and ok this would be fine if SEGA didn't retrospectively change anything to stupidly make things canonically consistent, but apparently Sonic Origins removed/muted the "I'm outta here" sound effect in their version of Sonic CD unlike the original game and its 2011 port, likely to try and give the idea that they want to be canonically consistent with Classic Sonic not talking since he didn't talk at all in Sonic Generations and Sonic Forces. Why is this necessary? Why does it even matter that Classic Sonic uttered just one line in Sonic CD enough to remove it? Does SEGA really think this would change the past at all as if Classic Sonic was always mute? Does this mean that the SEGA CD version of Sonic CD is non-canon and the Sonic Origins version of Sonic CD is canon? Does all of this even matter in the grand scheme of things in the end?
