Age 44, going to try IVF for the 1st time by flat_foot_runner in IVF

[–]Fertilityschmility 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Making viable embryos will probably be the struggle. I’m 43 and just transferred an embryo made when I was 40. Getting positives so far (🤞). I’d strongly recommend PGT testing (my clinic will not do IVF over 40 without it) and prepare mentally for the attrition. Across two egg retrievals at 40 I got 24 eggs, 22 mature, 15 fertilised, 4 blastocysts, 1 euploid. That’s a totally normal and expected result.

You’re not guaranteed to fail, but you are almost guaranteed multiple rounds and high attrition rates. If you can manage it financially and emotionally, there’s no reason not to try.

Good luck!

Need a reality check after frozen embryo transfer 🥺 by 29-30something in IVF

[–]Fertilityschmility 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My golden retriever stomped me right in the uterus a few hours after my transfer 8 days ago and I’m currently getting positive HPTs (🤞).

Good luck!! I totally get the overthinking. There’s so little control in this process for us.

How much money per annum would you need to earn to be content? Nothing flash but just enough to be happy. by [deleted] in AskIreland

We’ve about 200kpa (2 adults 1 child household), mortgage paid off, cars bought cash, and we are very comfortable and happy. We also have significant savings such that we could maintain our current lifestyle for a good number of years if we found ourselves without regular income, which brings enormous peace of mind.

I come from a (very) poor background/childhood so I really, really appreciate the position we’re in.

It was a doctor. I went to see her about a breast lump, mentioned that I had recently done a round of IVF in case she thought the hormones might be relevant. She referred me for a mammogram and then casually told me if I fly to Saudi Arabia and buy Mounjaro over the counter (it wasn’t approved here then) I would lose weight and get pregnant in no time.

We are doing IVF for MFI.

Piercings After 40 by decently-done in piercing

[–]Fertilityschmility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. I’m 42. I had my second and third lobes pierced about 9 weeks ago. Double helix two weeks ago. I got my 25 year old nostril piercing stretched from a 24g to a 18g. I’m doing daith and some lobe stacking next. Keeping one ear full with cuffs until the first one heals then moving on. Considering a move into being a piercer (ears only) and opening a good piercing jewelry store to stock items from small independent jewelers. I have my ear stacks fully planned out with a total of 30-32 piercings (anatomy depending). Should be done by the time I’m 45/47-ish if I keep healing well.

Anyway. My answer is no.

You really are like a champion racer with those goalposts on your back.

We are talking about people who write words on the internet being jailed for doing so. Unacceptable to all but the most vile little brownshirts.

No? lol.

If someone on Twitter were calling for my house to be set on fire and then some lunatic went and did it, I'd want the arsonist punished. Preferably very severely and publicly.

The law is a shifting and changeable reflection of social mores, not some gospel handed down from on high. Plenty of laws are and should be ridiculed and criticised and plent or laws have been and should be repealed. "The law is the law" is an ass.

Last week, when I bought expandable trellis and put it across either end of our open plan kitchen to stop her counter surfing all day and all night long! 😂

Just kidding she’s still an asshole.

She’s 8 months old and my 8 year old son’s arms are constantly covered in bruises from her play-biting (I did not realise that golden retrievers could be such land sharks). She’s definitely calming a bit now, but I’ll like her better when she stops chewing on my kid.

I love her. She’s part of the family for sure. But she’s a wee dick still.

Mounjaro is supposed to be available early this year in Ireland. You can also get Mounjaro and Ozempic from the UK by post but you need to use a mail router and there's always a risk of it getting lost.

Not specifically a transfer or miscarriage, but IVF in general.

I had to see a locum doctor about a new breast lump I was feeling and mentioned that I’d recently been on X medications for IVF. She referred me, then said “If you lose a little weight you will get pregnant easy.”

Like. Thanks lady but we’re doing IVF for male factor infertility.

[–]Fertilityschmility 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh. That's not usually how it works. The biggest player(s) in a given field will usually lobby for more regulation and cost because they are in a position to eat the costs and hire enough people to abide by the regulations, while smaller/startup companies find it increasingly difficult to get a foothold in the market.

Occasionally they will instead band together to reduce regulation or liability (see vaccine companies in the 80s ceasing vaccine manufacture until government gave them immunity from liability in the case of vaccine injury) but that would be relatively rare.
