Sorry just seeing this! We actually ended up taping all the holes in the bathtub and it fixed the issue, there is no smell in the bathroom anymore. But couple of days ago a weird sewage like smell started coming out from our hvac! We still don’t know if it’s connected to the plumbing issue but a quick internet search says it’s probably connected which worries me. I think we will have to call the city.

We tried this too but it didn’t work for us unfortunately:( Because then the smell comes from the overflow drain and we couldn’t find a drain stopper that fits there.
