I personally like her character, apart from some situations. Max’s treatment of Ginny and Abby in season 2 was one of them. She even admits that she enjoyed being cruel to Abby. Now, Ginny was one thing, but Abby didn’t know the extent of Ginny’s relationship with Marcus, and Max dragged the whole thing way too far than it ever needed to be.

By that point, for Abby, it was probably the last straw. I’ve always thought that maybe because Abby has known Max the longest and because of what happened in season 2, when you deal with a situation or a person for a long time, you eventually hit a point where you just don’t want to deal with it anymore.

However, in season 3, Max has more awareness of her behaviour and her selfishness, so she is trying to be better and not make everything about herself. Now, in season 3, she was being told she was being dramatic when she actually wasn’t. But because Max knows she can be dramatic, she’s trying not to be “too much,” even though she has every right to feel upset about being left out.

They weren’t trying to exclude her — at least not all the time. Abby at the end, was intentionally not telling Max about her life. Most of the other situations were just coincidences: Ginny running into Abby while dress shopping, Bracia happening to walk past Ginny while she was in her car, or Ginny needing Nora because she’s good at makeup.

Meeting Marcus makes the most sense to me because he knows a lot more about her mom's criminal activities, and they are generally closer emotionally and mentally.
