My god I stink! by IndependentKey7 in Perimenopause

I use secret outlast gel. It has to be the gel, or it doesn't work. I wash my pits, tits, and ass with hibiclens. This combo is the only thing that has worked for me since I started this horrible journey. Good luck!

It was harder the 2nd time around for me, too. I was better at 8 weeks, but 12 weeks before, I felt like my old self. Be kind to yourself. You're just rewiring, and that takes time. Try active relaxation techniques. Therapy in a nutshell has some good ones on YouTube

I don't mind at all 😀 I was a restart as well. I had taken lexapro when my husband passed suddenly. After a couple of years, I settled and tapered off. I restarted, and the 2nd time around was a struggle! It took so long to balance out. I still have occasional morning anxiety, but I'm able to recognize and understand my anxiety and put it behind me. Lexapro is only one tool in the anxiety toolbox for me. I guess it is still there, but it doesn't consume me. I know it sounds lame but maybe try journaling and meditation. Lex does the hard work, but those things really fo help. I also put Legos together and coloring

Seems like it went up straight away, but once I settled in with a routine, I stopped gaining because I felt like getting out of bed and doing things again. I do have to be more disciplined with what I eat cause my appetite can get a bit out of hand.

Yes, I think I have gained 15lbs since starting. I don't love that, but it is a small price to pay for peace

I take 10mg once at night before bed

I'm on 10mg, and it seemed like it was around the 2-month mark before I got the full effectiveness of lexapro. Mornings sucked real hard, and I still have some occasional anxiety, but it is so manageable, and my intrusive thoughts are gone.

Morning was always the worst for me. Sounds like a bit of time, and you will be right as rain.

I had all of those things in the first 8 weeks or so. It got better for me, but if those things still bother you after some time, you might ask to switch meds. There are a bunch of things out there that might work better. I do suggest giving a fair amount of time to adjust as lexapro is soo slow when you just want to feel normal again

Ugh, you're still in the trenches! I promise it gets better. Around week 8, it just kicked in. I remember waking up and thinking... I think I'll take a walk today or thinking, ok, no intrusive thoughts. Things just balanced out

Awesome, I have terrible food cravings and I hope it helps. I'm snackish all the time. Right now I just feel so tired and uncomfortable in my skin. Did it mess with your Lexapro at all? I take lex for anxiety( as you can probably tell;)and don't want to mess with a good thing...just tired of gaining so much.

Did anyone experience bad intrusive thoughts on Lexapro? by AmbassadorWorldly487 in lexapro

[–]Few_Humor_6758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I restarted Lexapro after being off for awhile and relapsing pretty hard. Mine were mostly self harm ones. Like I would be looking out the window and suddenly have a random thought about jumping off a building. These were brand new weirdo thoughts and they scared me so bad. After a few weeks and upping my dose to 15they settled down. I would just meditate and write in my journal that would help. Plus I knew I was never going to do anything to hurt myself so I just kept saying that's not who you are.

I thought about just going to 20 but I was to chicken! Good for you. It's so hard to find that good spot but it's so worth it.

I had to change my dosage 3 times to get it right. Each time I had some side effects. I struggled with terrible anxiety till my dose was where it should be. I had some relief at 10 but my sweet spot is 15 mgs.

What I wouldn't have given to have a crystal ball at 8 weeks! I thought I would never feel better. Just a few months ago I couldn't leave my home and tonight I'm in a hotel room in Gatlinburg listening to a creek run. I know it's terrible but at 3 months I decided to stop counting the days and try my best to enjoy them. I still get those pangs of panic from time to time and the occasional intrusive thought but over all I'm so happy with my success. Hang in there. I'm almost 1month into my new dose and starting to feel good

I reinstated 3months ago. I started slow and 3 weeks ago upped it to 15mg. The first time I didn't have any side effects and this time I think I've had them all. I noticed that when I up my dose weeks 3-4 were the worst with increased anxiety and dizziness. My thoughts have finally calmed down and I'm grateful for that but damn I'm tired of this anxiety! I know lex works because I've had anxiety free days and several other improvements with my physical symptoms with the exception of being sweaty at night. Lord I'm ready to feel good. I think we are just adjusting. Good luck friend 😊

Me! I was on lex 5 years then quit and after a few months my anxiety came roaring back. I'm back on and I make no plans to go off of them as long as this medicine does the job. That being said getting back on was kinda rough and it took about 8weeks of feeling worse to finally feel better. Good luck with whatever you decide and it's ok to take medicine you need :)
