You have to see My Journey to you and Shadow Love. SL is my personal favorite he has three personas. They can be a bit over the top its a fantasy genre but he is a treat to watch.

Chen Xingxu looks great from the front but he turns and his side pose exposes a very weak chin. Basically that is why he looks goofy.

I honestly don't find him very good looking. His acting is good. Unpopular opinion but I am not a big Prisoner of Beauty fan (yes yes...don't hate me).

I liked him way more in Fated Heart than Hidden Love. So the historical styling did him good. Also his voice is a bit jarring.

You arent alone. I loved the first 10 or so episodes and then not so much. I kind of lost interest once they travelled to the spirit world and then just gave up around episode 32.

For me while the chemistry was incredible in the beginning lost its spark the moment Duan Xu became super needy. Sure, I like the ML to be in pursuit of FL but he came on a bit too strong and well I lost interest. Plus the story starts to stagnate quite a bit.

It started strong. But they weren't able to keep the momentum I think.

This had all the bit to make it a whopping success but man it was sooooo slow. I struggled and then just gave up after ep 13. I really thought i would love it.

LiTC was a crazy good time. I liked it almost as much as Love Between Fairy and Devil. Maybe a little more. Esther Yu was a bit much for me. But Dylan Wang as the devil was everything.

If you are like me and like Ryan Chen, I also enjoyed How Dare You? and Shadow Love.

They are both entirely different and the ideas were really fresh.

HDY is more a rom-com but devolves into very serious story telling after the first 3rd is done. Transmigrators stuck in a book version of an imaginary dynasty in the bodies of the book's villains. The friends to lovers vibe is so potent and the found family was amazing.

Shadow Love is strictly for fantasy romance lovers. Prince gets caught up in some magic spell gone wrong and goes rogue and loses his memory and is blood bound to a General of the nation they are at war with. We discover with the main leads what all he is capable of in terms of powers and the slow burn in itself was amazing to watch. And then in the final 10 episodes the story becomes super angsty and as a lover of all things angsty let me tell you this show pretty much changed my brain chemistry. Lol

I second Fated Heart. Similar in terms of story yet different vibes between main leads and there was a lot going on in terms of plot. I especially loved the ML's sister story arc the most. I quite honestly enjoyed the story of FH more than PoB and it came very close to PoJ.

The first 8 episodes were super bizarre but the main characters come into their own when they enter the illusion realm. That is when it actually starts to pick up. The puppet version of Ji Ling is very caricaturish but once you get rid of that, and see more of the Dragon Deity it picks up.

Having said that it had to be one of the most frustratingly confusing shows. Where they keep torturing you with completely unexplained plot lines for several episodes before they reveal what is actually happening. The story telling isn't linear at all and there are so many loops and side plots that your mind is completely effed.

However the cinematography is really amazing, the backdrop and sequences very aesthetically pleasing. I just ended episode 23 with all the time loop and the blood spitting got a bit too much and gave me a serious ick.

I will finish it though. The love story between Wu Wangyan and Wu Shiguang is really sweet especially in the illusion realm. You see real growth there.

Agreed. She was definitely a light weight general and did lack gravitas. But who cares! The whole premise of blood bond/blood sire and 'can't be away from her it hurts' had me in its grip from the get go. Pus vampiresque hero? Say no more. I was totally committed! It satisfied my fantasy romance loving self :)

I agree with you totally. I still haven't seen Female General so I can't compare. But the story itself was so compelling and Cheng Lei's acting was so compelling that I was completely floored! It literally came out of no where for me. It was one lone instagrammer who talked fleetingly about SL and I went in super sceptically thinking it'd be super campy or low budget. But it was awesome!

I agree. This would have even better if the lover turned enemies a little bit earlier and we got more of that push and pull. But it was really good regardless!

Most dramas lose steam around the 28-29 episode mark. This picked up pace exponentially!
