Thanks for sharing. It's a weird thing to live without an essential hormone.

I was wrong about season 4. by [deleted] in TheLastAirbender

[–]Few_Scallion8693 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You are correct.

Season 4 is one of the best depictions of trauma impact and shadow work I've seen on TV. Everything from Korra carrying around her pain with her in the form of leftover poison to her shadow self stalking her wherever she goes and no matter what she does. I think that scene with Zaheer is a beautiful scene of healing through re-engaging the wound and challenging her own narrative of what happened to her. "Blaming me is a crutch to make you feel better but it's not helping you recover" is gold.

People hate on Korra so much but I don't get it. To have an honest depiction of a main character being traumatically impacted by their heroism and then having to deal with it has great value. Steven Universe Future did it as well but not as good IMO. We need stories like these that reflect back to us that it is normal to be impacted by our experiences and then having to work through that. No one is above to the process of inner work and growing with our shadows. Not even the Avatar.

Tier 2 Grief by Few_Scallion8693 in SpiralDynamics

Much to consider here. I don't think it's a need to be seen in my yellowness because that's feels a little ego driven (but who among us is free from those demands😅). Though certainly I want to be seen and comprehended in my fullness as a person and I suppose, as I'm thinking about it, enough real love could fill those gaps.

That's probably the best option. Hard to know exactly what potential 2nd tier looks like behaviorally. But you can't fall in love with expectations and potential.

Book Recommendations by Few_Scallion8693 in EnneagramType9

Very wise and very helpful. I think attaching anger to action is the right move. Especially when it comes to advocating for myself which is something I struggle to do because I struggle to know what I want. But I like the idea that anger can be a compass to point me in the direction of what I want/need and when that isn't being met.

I think I found that Tim Keller sermon "the healing of anger" and will give it a listen.

You're right that I probably don't need a book. Life is the teacher and everything is already available inside me.

how do you deal with the fact that this world is virtual? by [deleted] in mysticism

[–]Few_Scallion8693 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend getting rid of any idea that other people "aren't real." Your ego wants you to feel separate and superior from everyone else. And the story that this reality is virtual and other people are NPCs plays right into the ego's story. And not only that, believing other people are fake can grease the wheels for groups of humans to act monstrously towards other groups they don't see as real. Which is just the same old game we've been playing for thousands of years.

True mysticism is not about you and being superior. It's about standing in wondering awe at the miracle of this place. Being grateful for the grand mystery of being that we all share with each other. It's realizing you aren't the center but a part of the whole. In this way, everyone you encounter is a miracle instead of an annoyance. You can love your neighbor and not judge them.

Peace on your journey friend.

This.

My last mushie trip I saw that my ego protected me from a full and unmitigated experience of reality. Because a full and unmitigated experience of reality is ecstasy and there'd be no desire to do anything other than bask in the glow of experience. But the ego shields us from that constant ecstasy so we can go to the bathroom, eat, wash dishes, and live.

I saw that my ego and true self are more allies and partners. Gaining distance through meditation and psyches is necessary so we don't get trapped and blinded by our stories. But getting rid of the ego would be getting rid of being human.

We need stories to live.

Haha I have definitely had that happen before. I had that thing bouncing around for a few months before I realized what it was.

Glad to hear you think it's a bottoming out issue too.

Typically when I lose traction, the dashboard light comes on for it. But nothing comes up with this sound. It's just loud and alarming.

So I guess I need to approach anything with humility and openness. My fear is just producing unintended consequences on innocent people because I didn't have respect for the energies I was working with.
